I just want my family back.A A R O N
Michel tightly wraps his thin arms around my waist as he begins to squeeze the life out of me, the box of baseball cards hitting my back. "Thank you so much, Aaron!"
I chuckled lightly, patting him on the back before slightly pulling back. I tap Michel's head. "It was no problem, buddy, I hope you like them."
"Like them," Michel repeats, looking at the box in his hand. "I love these."
A smile wipes over my looks as I look over to see how happy he looked. Michel's lips were pulled into a tight smile while he looked over all of the other presents he had gotten. Emilia and Carlos had gotten Michel a new video game counsel as well as some games, Arya bought Michel a new watch and Ryan got his little brother a ticket to a baseball game. Needless to say, Michel had a pretty good wrap up of gifts.
He hugs everyone once again, the bright smile never leaving his face. Michel was a humble and generous kid, same as Ryan and Arya. They have to get it from their parents because I have never seen more humble people than Emilia and Carlos.
Emilia runs to put on the kettle and I hear Ryan still chomping down on his fifth slice of cake. "Aaron?" Carlos calls across from me. I look over, smile.
"Yes, Carlos?"
"I heard you had a game yesterday, how did it go?" Me and Carlos normally have long conversations about all of my games. He was into baseball -like Michel- and we normally talked over my pitches and plays of the day.
Emilia comes back into the room with two cups of tea, giving one to me and Carlos before she turns back towards the kitchen. "It was good," I reply, taking a sip of my hot tea before placing it back down on the coffee table in front of me. "I ended it with a curve ball and hit two triples as well as three doubles and one single. I struck out three times, twice with foul tips and I got tagged out at first."
Carlos nods as he listens to me intently. "Went three for three with the first two inning though, and we won by a run. The score was 11-10 us."
"Close match," Carlos mummers. "Well, I'm sure if you keep playing like that, Sacramento will be shaking in their cleats."
I breathe out a laugh when he says cleats instead of boots, pushing my hair back. "I hope but I'm not looking forward to playing the tournament there."
"Yeah, Sacramento is a dump," Ryan chimes in after finishing his piece of cake.
"Amen," me and Carlos both say. Most of our sports teams go way back with a rivalry against Sacramento, Ryan has explained this to his dad many times and given how Carlos is one of my biggest supports for baseball he hated them just as much as me and Ryan do now.
