The Life Of Aaron Prescott
Journal Entry Twenty-One; January 1st

It's been a couple years since I've opened this book.

A lot has happened.

I'm fourteen now, a freshman and playing baseball with Jordan. Ryan had some big speech about new year resolutions and it just made me want to re-open this.

Walter has grown worse since I've last written as well. The screams have turned into slaps that I've sadly grown used to. But I always have Ryan and his family for help.

My new coach -David- is nice. So is his son, Ethan. Me, Ryan, Mitch are the only freshman's on the team this year, but we make it work. Our latest game was yesterday, and even though I rode the bench the entire game it was still fun.

Mason and Rose had broken up. Apparently Mason had tampered with some of Rose's taxes or something like that, giving her extra money. Then when Rose called him out on it, he called her out in front of the whole school. It was messy to say the least. Ryan has been consoling him with tubs of ice cream for the whole week.

I've gotten better over time, since I've been able to realize that I'm stuck here for another four years.

Then I'm an adult, and Walter can't do shit to me.

A A R O N

Ryan has been biting his nails for the past twenty minutes, fixing his tie in-between.

He's planned a dinner for tonight at seven. It's at some fancy Italian place downtown by the waterfront.

I fix the cuffs to Ryan's suit I'm borrowing yet again before walking towards my best-friend.

It has been two days since the incident and I've been watching Ryan like a hawk. I've taken away his stash of alcohol and weed, only leaving some sleeping pills in his cabinet, but I'm still wary of those. Ryan knows I am being more cautious around him, and he accepts it.

"You're going to be fine," I repeat for the tenth time today. "Your parents will understand, Ryan. They love you, you are they're son." I sigh. "Here's a deal. They get mad or don't accept it, you are fully allowed to make a scene and hit me over the head with whatever you order."

Ryan chuckles, the first one I've heard in a couple days. "That sounds like a fair deal."

I nudged him with my shoulder. "I'll even pay for your meals every time you come to the restaurant."

Ryan nods to himself before turning back to the mirror, fixing his tie again. I walk up right behind him now, placing a hand over his shoulder. "Seriously, Ryan. It's going to be okay, no matter what."

Ryan takes his hands from his tie, just to run them through his hair that is in serious need of a haircut. "I know, I know."

Removing my hand from Ryan's shoulder I sit over on his bed, taking out my phone from my pants pocket.

There's a text from Lindsey.

Lindsey <3: Busy tomorrow? I need to go to the library and I can't drag Rose's ass there again.

"Are Michel and Arya going to be there?" I ask Ryan.

Me: So, I need to suffer?

Ryan turns away from the mirror to look back at me. "They should be, I told mom to bring the whole family."

Lindsey <3: Yep ;)

I chuckle lightly to myself. "Okay, then you can just rip off the band aid to everyone. This is good."
