Mikayla's pov
I sat on the bench at the local park in our area watching children with happy smiles on their faces as they played with their parents.
That's all I ever wanted a happy family, but considering the way my mom was and my dad who wasn't even there , it could never happen .
I guess not everyone gets what they want . That's just how life is .
Patiently , I was waiting for my Uber that I had ordered and it got delayed due to traffic but luckily it wasn't dark yet and the sun was beginning to set . The weather here in New York was definitely the definition of bio polar , one day it would be sunny and then the next it'd rain .
A notification popped up on my phone and I looked up to see a dark blue Sudan parking on the pavement behind me , so I stood up form my seat walking towards it .
"Hey." I said as I sat in the backseat
"Hi , where to?"
"Oh Erm 406 Amber road ." I said tucking my phone into my back pocket. "You live spring that area huh?"
I smiled in confusion "what do you mean?"
"You know the robberies? Break ins ."
"Ohh, that's been happening for decades now but the cops won't do anything about it , what about you ? Where do you live ?"
"Oh forest hill."
My mouth opened in shock , forest hill was one of the most dangerous parts to live in New York, considering people get killed , kidnapped and all sorts .
"That's like the mafia part ."
He nodded "I know I've only been living there nearly four months and have witnessed some crazy things , I mean someone got robbed like right in front of my apartment."
I sighed "just try not to get involved with all that ."
"I know I try , you don't live that far do you ?"
"Huh?"
"We're here already ."
I looked out the window and realised we were in front of my apartment building "that was quicker than expected, thanks for the lift ." I said opening the car door to get out . "Wait ." The driver said wheeling down his window to talk to me "what?"
"It was nice talking to you. "
I felt my cheeks heating up "you to."
"Have a nice night ."
"You also ." I said walking away from his car and towards my apartment building.
