CHAPTER 15

I arrived at our usual bar and was welcome by bodies grinding with each other. I found them at our usual spot but had a surprise.

Will I guess I'm not the only who is surprised, judging by their reaction when they saw me walking over to them.

Pha, Yo, Kit and Ming but so as Forth. Comfortable talking with my gang. He also has Park and Lam with him. Those two are like his shadow.

I stood in front of their table, and they just look at me guilty Pha and Yo more than the others. Why would Pha be guilty about this? They were friends before but just fallen out due to some misunderstanding.

Forth, on the other hand just stare at me with emotions devoid eyes. I just stood there crossing my arms in the process. I believe in the saying that you will catch a fish in the mouth. So, I just silently wait for them to start explaining. Pha started to talk but it was incoherent. Yo looks afraid of me.

"P' Beam! Glad you could join us! Please! Have a set!" says Ming, a little too enthusiastically, who snaps back from his trance. I saw Pha gave a sideways glance to Forth while forth still has his eyes lock on me.

I stubbornly stay rooted in the spot while throwing accusing glances to Pha. Kit started clearing his throat, open his mouth to say something but decided against it.

I think I have an idea on that's going on. I'm smart, not Pha smart, but still smart I told me. Hmmmm I glance again at their apprehensive faces and decided to attack Yo instead.

I knew Yo bares his emotions in his sleeve so this will be easy this kid is a bad liar and very easy to read moreover it will easily break Phas' façade if he sees Yo is uncomfortable so it makes my job easier.

"Yo..." I started in a very calculating voice. Phas' widen eyes didn't escape me. He knows what I'm up to but cannot say anything.

"Yes P' Beam?" Yo answers fearfully. Forth was still watching me with a calm expression.

"The steak from XXX restaurant you sent earlier was really good. Thank you for sharing it with me. You also sent some fresh Juices. I was really full" – I started with my sweet and innocent voice.

Yo let out a shaky sigh and looks relieve. So as Pha, Kit and ming but Forth assumed a defensive pose. That confirm my suspicion just about right.

"Yes P' Beam, I'm glad you like it" he said feeling relieved

"Now, that was some thrill" Kit jokingly added. Pha also has a satisfied smirk in him. You bastard! We promise to never lie to each other. I'll wipe that smirk from your face.

"And Yo, can you give me the contact info of the restaurant who serves the Lasagna you sent me the first time? You told me it was near campus" - I added. I wanted to see if they've been lying since the first day I started receiving those food deliveries.

"Sure P' I'll look for it and send it to you tomorrow first thing" he answered feeling out of the sticky situation and gave a side glance to Forth with a smile. But the moment he saws Forth shaking his head, they know something was not right.

Phas' smirking face quickly turn sour and the next thing I knew he was standing in front of me.

"Beam" He started.

"Pha, you promised never to lie or hide anything from me. You and Kit did. I don't know what made you do it, but I know who". I then throw Forth my most deadly glare. He was still rooted in his spot with a calculating look.

I then turn around and head towards the exit. I arrived at Kits' car and was unlocking the door when a strong hand stops me from doing so.

"I made them do it. Pha and Kit really opposed the idea, but I was persistent with them. They also knew this could happen and I assured them I will take all the blame." Forth started.

I hate that my heartbeat escalated at our position right now. My back was touching his strong chest and I can smell him. He is intoxicating as always. I tried opening the door again, but he just put more force into it. Leaning all his weight against opening the car door.

I know I could open it if I really wanted to, but I decided against it. I think we had an overdue talking to do.

"What do you want Forth? Why are you doing this?" I said with my back still facing him. Realizing I'm not going to try and open the door, he very slowly put his hands down and very slowly detach from me. I felt empty the moment I cannot feel his warmth. I turn around and we hold each other's gaze.

"I just wanted to say I'm sorry to all that had happen, Beam. I would never force myself to anyone especially to you. I don't know what came to me that night that I did that and I regretted my action towards you so much" I never saw this kind of expression from anyone before. His eyes are showing emotions that are foreign to me. Pain? Regret? I just don't know.

"When you left, I was really angry at myself that I let you go without talking things over but the way you look at me that night scared me. I was never scared Beam, even in the verge of death. I can fight with 50 people at once or 20 if they are armed but that never scares me. But that night, the way you look at me, scared me. It shakes me to my core that why I wasn't able to run after you."

"I don't know how to apologize, Beam, please understand that and never did I thought I need to apologize to anyone. I don't know what to do or how to do it. I was lost and all confused"

"Beam, I force Phana in helping with my plan. But he told me it will be pointless, but we will try just very slowly. He agreed to help me not willingly at first."

"I really am sorry Beam and I hope you can forgive me. I really did enjoy your company back when we were still drinking buddy. I regretted now more than anything that I give in to my lust that night at Lams' place" he ended his speech with a tearful note. Eyes still with each other. I can feel his sincerity and honestly. But there was a sting in my heart when he said he regretted doing me.

There was silence and not a pin drop can be heard that seems to go on for forever. I was contemplating everything he said to me while staring at his eyes looking for deceit, but I can only see sincerity and earnestness.

Sometime later, he chuckled unamused, dropped his gazed and stepped back. Eyes now barren of emotion. His face now looks defeated, somber, and withdrawn.

Before he can take another step back, I held his arm stopping him from moving away. I missed him. That I can admit to at least myself. He looks at my hands holding him and very slowly looks at my eyes.

I gave him a tentative smile and a soft eye.

"Pha and Kit sucks at drinking. I missed having a drink with you 'till morning. You engineering wolves can really drink your fill. I'm also always alone since they both have their boyfriends now". I ended with sincere smile and Forths' face glowed like he just won a million dollars in a raffle draw or found the Once Piece!
