We entered at the food court and all eyes is on us. Specifically, in our entwined hands. I tried pulling loose but Forth just hold me firmly and gave me an encouraging smile. He seems oblivious to the curious look that people are giving us.
We arrived back at the table and I see Park with his satisfied grin. Lam was quite but had a loop sided smile while the girl, P' Sandee, has sparkles in her eyes that I cannot seems to decipher the meaning just yet. They are on 1 side so the opposite side is free for us to sit down. Their order is here already and they are all waiting for Forth. Forth still has my hand in his.
"hello, my name is Sandee, I believed we haven't been properly introduced by this stupid almost brother-in-law of mine" P' Sandee started in her cheerful voice and extend her hands across the table towards me.
"Hello, P. I'm Beam" I said a little shaky
"Nong Beam, Do you mind elaborating what's your relationship with my nong?" she inquired while we shake hands and her eyes went to mine and Forths' still holding hands that he shamelessly put on the table. I quickly detangle my hand from Forths'. P' Sandee looks amused with a knowing smile, Forth looks dejected and me? I'm looking like a freakin' tomato.
Forth gave P' Sandee a glare and P' Sandee release my hand and raise her hands in surrender mocking Forth in the process.
"Alright! Let's eat!" she announced cheerfully clapping her hands like a 2-years-old.
"Beam, try this. This taste good" she gave a bowl of fresh noodles. I never say no to any food so I thank her and started eating. We all started eating while she still has her curious look on me.
"How was the noodles Beam?" she asks me and I swallowed first before answering it was good. We continued eating and at one point she said:
"Eat more Beam. You must be still hungry because you just throw out your food after you saw me with Forth like a jealous-not-even-a-boyfriend person" she nonchalantly spoke. While I almost choke to death with my noodles, Forth has the decency of not laughing with my reaction while Park and Lam was getting red by each minute, they are trying very hard to surpass laughing their asses off.
She said whhhaaaatttt???!!! I tried composing myself to rebuke whatever she said but she just dismissed me like I am an annoying kid. Forth gave her a glare but she just acted like a child, sticking her tongue out, clearly taunting Forth.
I'm still trying to recover from my choking and drank the water bottle Forth opened and gave to me. I mumbled a soft thank you but was still very much blushing.
"P' Sandee, please don't show too much of your weirdness to Beam. You might scare him away and stop talking nonsense" Forth reprimanded her and gave her a little shake in the head. They stare at each other and understanding was reflected in both their eyes.
"Continue eating Beam, don't mind the crazy lady. I told you she's a handful. I think she was dropped a couple of times when she was still a child" Forth said and I gave out a soft chuckle.
"Hey! I'm still here and I can hear you and you love me and I'm older so respect me!" she said looking cute and whiney.
"Sorry na P' yeah you're old" Forth said playfully. I can see that they are close. She pouted some more.
"I'll smack your head. B1, B2 hold Forth for me, please" she said to Park and Lam. Both was just shaking their heads smiling clearly used to this kind of barter between this two.
"ahhh, don't be like that na P! you started it. you were traumatizing my friend here. Tell you what, I'll get you the bag that you had your eyes on for like forever if you promise that you'll be nicer to Beam and try not to have him running away screaming bloody murder because of your craziness. Deal?" he said hopefully then drink from the water bottle I drunk from.
"I want the bag not later than Monday next week or the deal is off. Alright. You all are no fun. So, I'm gon'na go now." she said and stood up. "B1, B2, take care of your friend and keep his stalker syndrome in check, will yah"? She added before walking fast with a laughing Park and Lam while Forth looks unamused, shaking his head dejectedly.
"I hope she doesn't traumatize you just yet, Beam" Forth in his apologetic tone.
"She has quite a personality Forth but I don't have anything against her". Not anymore seeing that she is your in law I added to myself.
Forth smiled his gorgeous smile that send butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Shit. I'm in deep deep shit.
"She's my brother Tada's fiancée. We've known her since we were young. They were best friends and had quite a share of drama. You know, friendship – lover, torn between wanting to stay friends or taking the leap and progressing it to lovers. Same old same old." He explained. I nod in understanding.
We continued eating but a thought bothered me thought out. What are we really, Forth? Why do you hold my hand and looks at me like I'm your most prized possession? These are the questions that needs answer but I am very much afraid.
"How did you come here beam? Did you drive?" – Forth
"Yeah, I park just outside"
"Tell me na, next time if you plan of eating here so I can accompany you" -he said.
I just nod in confirmation since I was still in deep thoughts. After we finished eating, we cleared out our table and decided to just lounge around the ground. Engineering has a massive ground complete with football goals and a run track.
"What time do you need to be back at meds?" – Forth ask while we are just sitting in the ground. Park and Lam not far from us.
"I have my last class at 4 pm. Lab work and it finishes really late". -me
"Can I wait for you? I mean, can we go out of school together?" – he asks feeling shy. I look at him and found uncertainty in his eyes. Like a kid asking for a permission that if I didn't give him what he wants his gonna throw some bad ass tantrums.
"I'll be really late Forth like till 8 pm, and we'll go directly to dinner". – me
"That's fine, I also has some unfinished lab works to do so I can be free on weekend. I also want to have dinner with you. -He said sincerely.
"Every Friday night we have dinner out. Me, Pha, Yo, Kit and Ming. Would you be okay joining all of us?
"The more the merrier! Can I have Park and Lam too?" – he asked
"That should be fine". – I ended. He has a happy expression in his face and I can't stop myself from smiling as well.
