"Coming on the walk?" Iris asks, popping her head through the door.

You tear your head up from your case to see her head poked through the doorframe using a slightly softer tone that she had been earlier.

"No, thanks, I want to get packed ASAP"

"You don't have to clear out-"

"I know, but I want to."

Iris whispers an 'alright' before ducking her head out again, calling out to Kyra before they leave together with Loki for their afternoon walk. You feel pins and needles starting to build in your left foot so get up from the ground for a break.

You pad through to their kitchen, massaging your leg the whole time, and flick the kettle on for a coffee. Their house seemed calm now that you looked at it properly, lived in, like a proper house. There was a bowl of potpourri, there were spare shoes sat next to their usual spots in the living room. There were reminder post its on the fridge, along with pictures of the two of them. Both of them smiling, laughing, kissing, hugging, they were everywhere. The fridge, their phone home-screens, on windowsills, in frames; their relationship surrounded you.

There was an anger that simmered inside of you at the sight of it. It felt wrong, you'd always dreamt that Iris would settle down with someone, that she would actually be happy, and Kyra seemed perfect for her.

The kettle clicked off the boil, along with the anger inside of you, settling down to a mere bubble.

"Y/n?!" Iris shouts to the house as she stumbles in from the walk

"You were a lot later today, you don't need to buy tests every time you go out! I'm fully packed, but I thought-"

"We bumped into Tom" she interrupts.

You falter for a second, too many thoughts going through your head to decide which to settle on. "-I thought that I'd cook tonight to say thank you for everything"

"Y/n-"

"Stop, I don't want to know what he said"

"He's not doing well"

You should've felt happy, either because he wasn't over you and that meant there was an opening to patch things up, or because he deserved to hurt after it all. But you didn't. You could picture him, holed up in his house, trying to still put on a brave face, dealing with fans and, quite soon, the interviews. He was dealing with this quietly, because what else was there to do? He couldn't tell people now about the relationship. Still, he'd hurt you, and maybe he deserved some pain too?

"That's a pity" you muse "I'm going to get things for dinner tonight any requests from you two?"

"Y/n..." Kyra soothes

"I'm fine, really"

"Lies." Iris interjects.

"You don't know that, I wasn't, I'll admit that, but I am now"

"Alright. Let's say for a minute you are"

"Because I am-"

"You're leaving him to suffer? After everything you're just going to let him bleed out all this pain on his own?"

"It's not my duty to help him"

"No, of course it isn't. Because you're fine."

"He mentioned something about inviting you to the premier of the film?" Kyra prompts.

"Yeah, uh yeah he said I should be his date to it a while back."

"Well, he wanted us to tell you that the offer was still there, it's tomorrow night, he said he'd have a car pick you up. If you want of course."
