River's friend's looked so shocked it was funny. Ella had her mouth hanging open shaped like an o. She was currently sitting with her back against one of the corridor walls. The guy named Frank looked completely lost, and Melody could sense a bit of jealousy too. There were two possibilities. One, Frank's parents were dead and he had no family, so therefor he couldn't help it but to long after a partner and a child. Or two, he was in love with River and would gladly switch places with The Doctor. Melody frowned while trying to decide which theory that actually was the right one.
To her left a brown haired guy stood. He looked really freaked out, like he couldn't really believe what they'd told him. Two more people were standing closely together, looking rather suspicious. Melody felt a sudden urge to convince them about the truth.
"Why don't you believe us?" she asked, looking at them. They broke apart a little, frowning.
"We never said we didn't believe you." the girl answered, looking at the boy she'd been leaning against. He had dark nearly black hair while hers was blond. Melody decided the contrast was beautiful, and that she definitely supported them as a couple.
"But you don't, do you." she said.
"Well... you're just strangers to us. You could be lying..." the girl said.
"And we've known River a long while. From the first days of University even." It was the guy who'd spoken, with a fairly deep voice. They were like the opposite of each other, she with beautiful blond hair and high pitched voice and him with hair almost the colour of a starless night and deep comforting voice. 'They should get married', Melody decided. 'Then their kids would be like the night sky, a mixture of stars and beautiful nothingness'.
The Doctor frowned.
"But that seems a bit too far into the past... She should've forgotten you too," he said. He had his thinking face on, the face he got when something wasn't quite right. Melody realized she must've had the same face, because Amy had a small smile on her lips, looking at them. She didn't try to look normal though, she understood Amy must have enjoyed it. Amy who had now missed both her daughter's and her granddaughter's childhood. Melody could at least give her the small moments, knowing the big ones were forever gone.
"What do you think?" the Doctor's voice echoed through Melody's mind. Time Lord's had a telepathic way of speaking, at least if they were family. Blood could connect with blood, but lovers such as husbands and wives could do it too.
"A glitch, maybe?" Melody speculated. "Maybe we could use it to our advantage."
"Not bad. A plan that deserves to be tried, don't you think?" The Doctor looked over at Melody.
"Well maybe. It isn't like we've got a lot to lose."
"Then that's what we'll do." the Doctor said out loud. Since the decision had been made only in his and his daughter's minds, everyone else looked confused.
"What?" Rory asked.
"Exactly." the Doctor grinned. He looked at his daughter. "If I go looking for Madame Kovarian, could you look through the TARDIS data on what weaknesses that could be found in the glitch?"
"Of course, just stay safe."
"Let's go then." the Doctor said. Then he and his daughter ran off into two different directions.
"Oi!" Amy shouted. She didn't know who to follow, but from experience she decided the Doctor would be just fine by himself. She therefore grabbed her husbands hand and dragged him in the direction Melody had gone. She knew the girl was her father's daughter, but she refused to lose her only granddaughter after just knowing her for a couple of hours. River's friends followed the Ponds, not having the faintest idea of what was happening.
"If you are her family, then why don't you help her?" Frank said. They had arrived to the TARDIS, and Melody was trying to unlock it. The TARDIS had locked herself when they'd forgotten to, and that made her somewhat harder to open.
"We're going to, you just don't know the plan yet. Never just assume something without knowing all the facts." Melody said, finally finding the strength to turn the key. "But you assumed they didn't believe you without knowing all the facts," he said, pointing at the light girl and the dark boy.
"See, now you're doing it again. I did know all the facts just by looking at you." Melody answered while opening the doors.
"How could you do that, I mean you're obviously younger than I am." Frank frowned.
"Wrong again! This just really proves my point."
"Which is?"
"I'm about a billion times smarter than you." Melody smiled. She'd gotten some of her mother's sass, Amelia thought. That made her warm inside, finding a trace that actually came from her side of the family.
Melody stepped into the TARDIS, and the Ponds followed. Behind them River's five friends gasped.
"I... It's..." The dark haired guy said.
"It's bigger on... on the inside." the blond girl finally said, putting everybody's thoughts into words.
Melody grinned and suddenly she looked more like her father than ever before.
"I love it when people do that."
