Alex waited anxiously for his mate to arrive. He was pacing up and down in front of the main door to his house, biting his lips to the point where there was a bruise forming on the inside of his mouth. He made sure to bite the remaining of his fingernails, not even noticing it before he got to his tenth finger. His breathing was erratic and for what? They've had something like this before – there were a couple of times in their friendship when they didn't see each other for a couple of weeks – either because of their hectic schedules, both of them being on separate ends of the world or simply because they fell out for a short time.

But it was different this time, and although Alex's memory was hazy, he tried to remember what exactly happened the last time they were together. There were flashes of a house party, red cups filled to the brim, colourful lights dancing on the walls, friends, laughter and smoke, but only one thing was prominent in his mind – obviously, Miles.

It was an usual get together of some close friends and people they'd seen a few times around pubs. Awkward conversations with ex-girlfriends, the weird dancing before the alcohol and drugs kicked in, badly mixed booze – it was your usual.

But something undeniably changed between the two of them – and it was something none of them had the courage to admit before.
