HALO

"Oh hey, boss. Hungry?" Asuka asks, setting her plate of food on the coffee table in the middle living room.

River looks up, "no thank you. I ate before I came." He sits back in his chair as he eyes me.

Now, River. He was super tall and honestly thick. Not THAT type of thick, but muscular, meat on his bones. He had little to no facial hair so you could tell he was young, maybe late 20s. His haircut was your average brunette white boy style and it covered his whole forehead. It was just a little hot. Eyes were green and his teeth were straight and white. He was super fine, I just couldn't get distracted by his beauty.

Asuka sits down to eat and River leans up. "How are you Halo?"

Say my name again please🧎🏽‍♀️

I shift a little before answering, "I'm good, thank you. Yourself?"

"I'm all good. I heard you wanted in on The Game?" He smiles a toothy smile my way.

I chuckle a bit, leaning back, "You are correct."

"Why?"

And here was the interview questions. Girl I don't do interviews, I don't know what to say besides "I like the idea of killing people. It's badass." It doesn't seem serious enough. I'm silent for a few moments before I gather my words to speak. "I um- the idea of killing off those who've wronged me and others of the world excites me. When I heard that my best friend was in, I was sold immediately."

He nods, "you know, that could be an issue. You and your best friend in this dangerous game. Could be a safety hazard for the both of you. One wrong thing, y'all are goofing off then boom, one or the both of you are dead."

Why was he so quick to assume things though? This was the thing that threw me off the most. How could you sit there and judge someone that you don't even know- wait a minute, I can't even preach on not judging people you don't know, I do the same thing. Anyways-

My face softens and I dip further back into my seat. Oh this isn't going so well already. Did I choose the wrong choice of words? Can't be, I barely said a thing and he's already coming for my neck. "Oh uh- I don't think we'd be on the same missions right?"

"I can't promise you that. There would be sometimes where I have two or more people on a mission. Not best friends though, like I said, that could seriously fuck up the mission." His elbows are resting on his knees and his hands are balled together in the middle of them.

"Okay, and this is why you don't put us on the same missions if you think it's such a big issue." I snap which I probably shouldn't have, foreshadowing the future.

River laughs a deep laugh, "you're feisty aren't you. Also an issue. What if you're on a mission and someone says something wrong and you snap?"

"Self control is a thing, you know?"

"Anyways. Are you a more serious or outgoing person."

Now this is where it's at. These are the questions I like. "I'm a more outgoing person but I can be serious when it's needed. Asuka can tell you."

Asuka is on the other side of the couch, chowing down on her big plate of Alfredo. With a full mouth, "Mhm I can vouch. She does it to me."
