iii. chased by telmarines

THEY WALKED THROUGH THE
forest, Selena already fed up with Caspian despite having only travelled with him for an hour.

Badger and Nikabrik kept their distance, not wanting to annoy the Telmarine Prince whilst Selena set the pace.

"Hurry up Your Majesty, we don't want to be late," she said, walking through the tall grass.

"I just think we should wait for the kings and Queens," Badger said.

But Caspian just carried on walking, Selena more than glad to lead the young Prince to the Narnians - and potentially to his death.

He got on her nerves. He had an annoying accent, a perfect look, an irritating personality. He was just perfectly hateable.

"Fine, go then! See if the others will be as understanding!" Badger said as they ignored him.

"Maybe I'll come with you, I want to see you explain things to the minotaurs," Nikabrik said, Selena nodding her head.

"Minotaurs?" Caspian questioned, stopping in his tracks as he looked at them, "They're real?"

Selena nodded, "Yeah, and very bad tempered. So hurry up, this'll be funny," she said, ushering him away.

"The last hour you have been so negative, so ready to let me die, either by the hands of Narnians or by my own people," he said, an exasperated look on his face, "And I've had enough,"

"You two argue like Glenstorm and Windmane," he said before noticing Caspians confused look, "They're married centaurs,"

"They exist as well?" Caspian said, going from angry to intruiged in seconds.

"Yes you tosspot, they will fight on your side, but there's no telling what the others will do," Selena explained, crossing her arms across her chest in annoyance.

"What about Aslan?" Caspian asked, Selena, Badger and Nikabrik all stopping as they heard him mention the great lion.

"How do you know so much about us?" Nikabrik asked, narrowing his eyes at Caspian who had also stopped moving.

"Stories," he said, a look of confusion on his face as he ran a hand through his hair.

"Wait a minute," Selena scoffed, "Your father told you stories about Narnia?"

Caspian shook his head when he saw their looks of disbelief on their faces, "No, my professor. I'm sorry, these are not the kind of questions you should be asking,"

"Then I'm sorry, what would you rather we ask? For your favourite food? How you want to rule Narnia as well as Telmar just like your dad?" Selena asked, frustrated.

"Don't talk about my father!" He said, drawing his sword and pointing it at her, "My childhood is none of your business,"

Selena narrowed her eyes, pulling her sword out as well so it touched his, her glare piercing through him.

"Well your highness, not everyone grew up with a silver spoon and tutor's, some of us were orphans who grew up in the woods with nobody but themselves to blame," she said, raising her voice.

"Stop!" Badger said and the two stopped arguing, turning to look at him, "I smell human,"

They heard men shouting, Telmarines appearing in the distance. Caspian and Selena looked at each other before starting to run, Badger and Nikabrik not far behind.

They dodged the arrows being shot at them by the Telmarines as they raced through the forest.

Selena let out a yelp when she was hit in the shoulder by an arrow, blood already starting to ooze through her white shirt.

She swore under her breath, her knees involuntarily giving way as the pain coarsed through her body.

Nikabrik and Badger started to race towards her but Caspian stopped them, "I'll go," he said. Despite his dislike for the girl, he wasn't going to let her die.

She started to get up, holding onto a tree for support. But when she looked behind her, the Telmarines were closing in but she wasn't going to let this be how she died.

With her good arm, she grabbed onto her sword before Caspian ran over to her, helping her up and allowing her to use him as a human crutch, "Trust me," he said, the two rushing away as fast as they could.

Before they could panic about being caught, the Telmarines were falling to the ground.

"Slow down Caspian, I'm looking blood really fast," she said, one hand holding onto the wound on her arm whilst the other held onto him.

"Get her out of here," he said as he passed her onto Nikabrik and Badger before turning to face the Telmarine army alone.

She walked off, the pain in her arm starting to subside as she held a hand to it, hoping it would stop the blood flow to a certain extent.

Selena watched as Caspian fell to the ground, talking to Reepicheep about something.

"Reepicheep, he's with us," Yelena said, walking towards him as she saw Caspian look up at her, "Hes the one who blew the horn,"

"Then let him bring it forward," Glenstorm said, walking forward with his sons, "This is the reason we have gathered,"

Caspian looked up at them, a confused expression on his face as he realised that these Centaurs were real.

"Welcome to Narnia," she said with a smirk, already beginning to bandage the wound with something one of the fauns handed her.
