xi. you need help
"WE NEED MEDICAL ATTENTION, RIGHT now!" Caspian yelled out as they walked back into the How with less soldiers than they had before.
He was holding Selena up with one arm, the girl leaning into his shoulder and wincing at every step.
The troops they had stayed behind had never seen their general in such a bad state, tears dried on her face and blood covering both hers and Caspians hands.
Lucy rushed out, watching as the girl collapsed to her knees. Caspians heart was pounding as he looked at her, the feeling of horror rushing over him as he realised she might not make it.
"Here, take this," Lucy said, pouring a drop of something into Selenas mouth.
She instantly healed, the stinging pain minimising and the blood flow stopping. Selena took a deep breath, smiling at Lucy.
"Thank you," she said to the girl before turning to Caspian, "Help me up would you,"
He chuckled, letting out a sigh of relief as he realised that she was okay, that she was going to live. It was weird, he disliked the girl and her arrogance, how she was controlling and how she just always looked so good.
Peter kept walking, an annoyed look on his face, "What happened?" Lucy asked as she saw the colour start to return to Selenas face.
"Me?" Caspian questioned, helping Selena over to Glenstorm as he allowed her to lean against him, "You could've called it off, there was still time,"
"No there wasn't thanks to you. If you kept to the plan, those soldiers might be alive right now," Peter said, a sombre tone to his voice.
"If you'd stayed here like I suggest they definitely would be!" Caspian exclaimed, raising his voice.
"You called us, remember?" Peter switched the blame from him to Caspian.
"My first mistake," Caspian said.
"No. Your first mistake was thinking that you could lead these people. They were doing perfectly fine with Selena,' Peter said and that was the first time he'd ever said something remotely nice to her.
Peter walked off and Caspian yelled after him, "I am not the one who abandoned Narnia," Caspian yelled out.
Selena just watched it unfold. She was weak and they all knew where she stood in this matter, she knew they could have gotten out of there earlier and saved more people.
"You invaded Narnia. You have no more right than Miraz does. You, him, your father, Narnias better off without the lot of you," Peter yelled after him as Caspian stormed off.
That struck a nerve and Caspian turned around with a shout, the two boys drawing swords at each other.
"Stop it!" Edmund yelled out, everyone looking back at Trumpkin who was on the verge of dying.
When Peter saw Lucy heal him, he walked away, Caspian helping Selena off in the other direction.
"I don't need your help Caspian," She said as he helped her towards one of the washrooms in the back of the How.
"You're still bleeding slightly, I just wanted to help you here," he said and she sighed, standing in the room with him awkwardly, "I'll go,"
"Wait," she said and he turned back to her, "Can you help me out, just a little bit?"
He chuckled, watching as she awkwardly stood there, clearly not used to asking for help, "You sure you want a Telmarine to help out?"
"I'm Telmarine by blood so," she said with a nervous chuckle, "Help me up," she gestured to the counter.
He helped her onto it and for the first time since they met, they were both at eye level, Caspian awkwardly standing inbetween her legs.
"What do, uh, what do you want me to do?" He asked and she chuckled at how nervous he was suddenly.
"Pass me the cloth, bottom draw," she said and he passed it to her, watching as she dipped it into the bowl of water before lifting her shirt up slightly.
He blushed slightly as she held her shirt up, dabbing the cloth against the wound and cleaning it as much as she could.
"Do you need help?" Caspian asked as she winced but she just shook her head, glaring at him.
"Just because you're being nice to me doesn't mean we're best friends," she said before putting the slightly bloody cloth down, "Plus, this isn't my first Telmarine fight,"
"I think I saved your life actually," he said, a slight smirk on his face.
Selena shook her head, hiding the smile on her face as she checked the wound again, it could reopen at any time and she didn't know what effect Lucys potion would have a second time.
"Can you pass me the bandage please you royal pain in the ass?" She asked, and he chuckled, handing her a roll of bandages.
She pulled the shirt over her head, leaving her in the small tank top underneath. She rolled it up, trying to put the bandage on herself.
"You need any help?" Caspian asked sarcastically as he leant against the opposite wall.
"No," she said, biting her lip as she focused on putting the bandage on without his help. Selena sighed in defeat, holding the bandage out, "Yes,"
"I'm sorry, did you say something?" He asked, walking over to her.
"If I have to ask twice I'll just leave and bleed to death, is that what you'd prefer?" Selena asked.
He laughed, a smile on his face. He hadn't laughed like that since before his father had died two years ago, before his uncle murdered his father.
"Fine, fine," he said, picking up the bandage and lifting her shirt slightly so he could wrap the bandage around her abdomen.
"When did you get hit?" He broke the silence as he asked, looking up at Selena.
"You had just left, he was coming for you so I stepped in and tried to fight him off," she explained.
"You took a Telmarine sword for me?" He asked, tying the bandage around her abdomen and apologising as she winced.
"For Narnia, I'd die for this country," she said, rolling down her tank top and pulling the shirt back on, "Help me down,"
She grabbed his bicep as he helped her down, the two blushing as he accidentally held her close for a second longer than he was meant to.
"I'll meet you in the battle room," Selena said, turning away as she picked up her sword from the side.
"No thank yous?" He asked sarcastically and she turned around, rolling her eyes at him.
"Maybe next time Caspian," she said and a smile tugged at his lips.
