The next morning Kate pushed John in his carriage as she and Bucky walked to the train. Steve and Peggy were there waiting and the two men lifted the carriage up the stairs. There were some grumbling comments and eye rolling from the other commuters over having to maneuver around the carriage but Bucky just glared back. When they reached the subway stop in New York they helped get the carriage up the stairs in the crush with similar comments directed to themselves. They walked to Goldberg's Deli but it had a closed sign on it. Max Stein happened to walk by at that moment and said Tang's Chinese Restaurant sold coffee in the morning. He kept going towards the SSR and didn't look back. They walked to Tang's but found the crush of uniformed men and civilian officers women pushing baby carriages hard to navigate at first. Finally a path opened and they reached the restaurant. Mr. Tang greeted them like long lost friends and directed them to a private dining room in the back. Then he closed the door and the room moved, going down like an elevator. It went through several layers before stopping about five stories down. An MP opened the door and directed them to follow the hallway to the end. He did not follow them.

At the end of the hallway two dark suited men watched as they approached and opened the door for them. They also did not follow. Inside the room was General Phillips, Miss Webb, Howard Stark, and President Truman.

"I took the liberty of inviting Howard Stark," said the General, "as I want him in on the ground floor of this new agency. But first things first. Mrs. Kate Barnes, I believe you were advised to make an agreement only with the President of the United States. May I present President Harry S. Truman."

The President stood up, offering his hand to Kate, which she took. He rubbed John's head with a smile, then offered his hand to Bucky, Steve and Peggy.

"Please sit," he said, indicating the sofa and armchairs in what was actually an underground replica of the Oval office

"Please sit," he said, indicating the sofa and armchairs in what was actually an underground replica of the Oval office. "It's not everyday I get to meet someone from the future. It's already been explained that you can only release bits and pieces of that knowledge so that you don't steer the car into the ditch, a most apt description. We have occasional contact with the Masters of the Mystic Arts and the Ancient One has made it very clear that you are in the driver's seat. That being said, is there anything you can tell me that would instantly convince me that you know the future?"

"Manhattan Project, Fat Man, and Little Boy," said Kate. "It's open history in my time but I suspect only you and Miss Webb know the true significance of those words today, Mr. President."

The President and Miss Webb both opened their eyes wide, gulping and then looked at each other nervously. They took a deep breath before the President looked carefully at Kate. Bucky noticed General Phillips smiled briefly.

"I've only known for a few weeks, yet you rolled those off your tongue like you've always known them," he said. "You haven't told anyone else, even your husband?"

"No sir," she said. "I mentioned something in general terms to my husband but not those names. It must proceed as planned. It's the only way, as difficult a decision as it will be for you. There are issues – Russia already knows about it as one of the scientists on the project has already given them the information. I could give you his name but the damage is already done. As of the year 2025 it has never been used in warfare again so there is that."
