Short Luke goes to Mr. Deter's former office, he throws everything out, and replaces it with his own things. He then made posters about himself and his new regime. It took him hours to complete, but when he was done, he hung each one up. Each one has an authoritarian feel to it, surly to strike the mind of anyone who looks at it. He declares himself has the new band director.
He looks around, and figures he should change some rules.
1. No more water breaks
2. Last rep does not equal best rep
3. No more "yeah rests"
4. Woodwinds have to be louder than brass (impossible)
5. Any political opponents must be disposed of
6. No freedom of speech
7. No freedom of religion. Everyone practices Lukism.
8. No more trumpet section
9. No calling him "Short Luke"
10. There can't be any other Lukes in the band, and especially in the trombone section. Any and all will be kicked.
Those are the 10 commandments of Luke. This new era of Steele High School Band will be one of greatness, or so Luke thinks. He strides over to look out at the band lot. He takes a deep breath in, and lets it go, standing up tall at a giant 7'2.
By now, all band periods have passed. Everyone knows about the new band director, but no one likes it, especially the trombone section. They look at the new dictator, and think of ways to get him off. Luke looks at Tall Luke. He points to him, and motions his arm to the gates, signaling Tall Luke to go. He leaves, but he plans to make a return.
Tall Luke is currently being exiled. He walks. He doesn't know where he's going. He doesn't know what lies ahead of him. All he knows is that he must travel and find a way to stop Short Luke. It's a matter of freedom or tyranny. He looks out into the sunset, and blocks the sun's gaze with his arm. A gust of wind comes, blowing his cap off. He catches it, and puts it back on, tightening the back so it won't slip off as easily. He travels to the far mountains to find a magic cave where he can gain powers unknown to people. The journey will be a long, tough four days, but it will be worth it if it means saving the band. He has nothing but a water canister, a one hundred dollar bill, and his clothing to accompany him.
Back on the band lot, Short Luke has already killed 10 people with the laser vision he suddenly developed. The trombone section miraculously still has all of its members, except for Tall Luke. Rehearsal doesn't have any marching in it, it's just two and a half hours of Short Luke's ego boost. The band students are finally released, and the trombone section has an emergency meeting at Falcon Ridge Park.
"Ok, so Here's the situation," Josh says to the section while under the pavilion, "Short Luke has taken over the band by suddenly turning into a strong, dark man. We don't know how this transformation happened- it could've been a powerful tanning bed and weights, and he needs to tell me what he used- I mean- I digress. We need to have a plan to put a stop to him," he clasps his hands together.
Aaron chimes in, "yeah, I agree," his voice varied a little bit while saying it, but it still sounded a bit monotone.
"Oh, maybe we can sick Garfield on him!" Matt states with much enthusiasm.
Aaron sighs, and Josh chuckles, "oh my god", Josh pushes his glasses up.
"Ok, any actual suggestions?" Aaron asked as Matt says a quiet "aw".
"I was the one who gave him the potion that made him strong. I did it because he asked for it. I didn't think much of it. I believe it has a limit on how long it's effective. If not, I have something that can turn him back", Renee admits with her arms crossed.
"We need to give it to him asap. When do the effects end?" Aaron asks with a bit urgency.
Renee ponders it for a bit, "It can take up to a week to turn back after handing him the remedy. With out the remedy, it takes up to 3 years."
"We need the remedy then", Josh chimes in, "when are you able to get it?"
"I can hand it over by tomorrow."
"Ok, that works. Any other ideas to curb him in the mean time?" Aaron looks around at everyone. Matt raises his hand.
Aaron pinches the bridge of his nose, "If it has something to do with Garfield, don't answer it." Matt puts his hand down.
"Anyone else?"
No one answers him. They all stay silent.
"Ok, then meeting closed", he states as he rocks onto his platforms, and then back down.
Everyone leaves the park one by one. Atlas, Josh, Mekhi, Miles, Joel, and Ben all have to wait a bit for their rides. Adrian stays behind just to talk to them some more.
"Oh my god. I haven't seen Addison Rae in three days!" Mekhi suddenly says, breaking the silence once there.
"Oh, that sucks", Josh doesn't know what else to say other than that.
"Maybe she's just been busy, or out sick", Adrian suggests.
"No, she would tell me if she were. I don't know where she is", Mekhi sounds a little more frustrated.
Ben is off to the side on one of the tables. Miles goes over to him.
"Hey"
"CJ took all of my shit", Ben says with a saddened voice.
"Oh, that sucks. What all did CJ take?"
"My wallet, all of my hats, my house, my dog, my family, even my clothes. This is the last outfit I have left, and I'm scared they might take it too!" He's on the verge of tears.
Miles ponders about what to say. He finally speaks, "We can get it back."
"How?" Ben looks up at him
"Stealing it back." He states it bluntly.
"Wha- but can't we go to jail if caught?"
"Not if we run away fast enough", Miles shrugs.
Ben gasps, "Thank you!" He stands up, "when should we?"
"Later on tonight. We can get ready for it in the mean time. We'll break into CJ's house to do it", Miles looks off into the distance.
"Deal."
Ben sees a car coming, "That's my mom."
Miles hands Ben his address, and Ben leaves. Soon after, the other band members leave as well.
