The Tale of Two Lukes

Chapter 11: Short Luke's Promotion and A Growing Resistance

    Short Luke slowly consumes and ravages through Texas, taking over every city and town. He leaves nothing behind. He shows no mercy. He is the epitome of a tyrant. Luke forcibly converts everyone to Lukism. He is god.
    Luke sits down in his Olympic pool sized office, and leans back in his chair, stretching as he does. He sighs and takes a drink, but then chokes and spits it out as the door practically gets knocked down. It's Joe Biden!
     "Luke! I have been very eager to see you!" Joe exclaims.
    "What is this nonsense?" Luke questions. "You did not make an appointment with me!"
     "I know, and I'm sorry. I am not worthy of being president anymore. I want to give the title to you!"
      Luke sits up straight and looks at the old man who is practically crying tears of joy before the radiating sight of Luke.
     "Go on!" Luke says with eyes lighting up. "What about democracy? What about voting? What will the people say?"
      "Don't worry about that. True leaders don't care about what the people say, and you're clearly that leader!" Biden says
   "You're right!" Luke snaps his fingers. "I am that type of leader!"
      Luke stands up and puts his hands on his hips. "I AM the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!"

    Meanwhile, the people of Texas are growing angry. An anti-Luke organization has started, and many of them have protested and rioted. Many have also gone to jail. Texas has gone to flames after Short Luke took over, and many have lost hope.
    The resistance called themselves "The Lightnings" because they want to be seen and heard. They want to cause a ruckus and let Short Luke know that he cannot push them around like the way he has. The resistance is filled with people of all walks of life. People set aside political differences, differing religious beliefs, and ages. You've ever seen a progressive satanist fight alongside a conservative Catholic? I bet you haven't, but the resistance has. Have you ever seen an old woman fire a machine gun at a police man? I bet you haven't, but the resistance has. The resistance is filled with death and hardships, but in a way many find beauty in how they have grown together to fight a common enemy.
     Josh is the leader of the resistance. It originally started in Cibolo, and it was mostly just the Steele trombone section, but as Short Luke's rule grew, so did the resistance. The trombone section was going to anoint Aaron, but he didn't want to be the leader, so he automatically pushed Josh into that job.
    The Lightnings are everywhere, but also nowhere. They could be your doctor, your lawyer, your landlord, your teacher, your spouse. They could be anyone, and Short Luke knows this.
