Andy's 40 Weeks and 2 Days... Today is Robert's last shift. All day, Andy has been at 19 hanging out and feeling contractions. 19, has been very busy today. They aren't at the station for long before another call, so they haven't noticed the contractions. She's been breathing thru them, but all of a sudden her water broke.

When her water broke, she got terrified. Conversation... Andy: Vic!!! (The whole team comes running. That's when they notice water on the floor.) Andy: My water broke. Vic: Okay. I'll grab my stuff, and take you to the hospital. I'll meet you downstairs. Andy: Okay. (Andy and Maya walk downstairs while Vic grabs her stuff.) Maya: Are you feeling contractions? Andy: Yes, for a while. Maya: How long? Andy: Since five or six yesterday, evening. Maya: Andrea Herrera! Why aren't you in the hospital? Andy: I don't know. Maya: You're going to the hospital, now! Vic: Andy, do you have your bags and everything you need? Andy: Yes, I do. Everything is in the car, including the carseat. Vic: Let's go. (Vic and Andy head to the hospital. On the way to the hospital, Andy calls Robert.) Robert: Hello. Andy: My water broke. Vic is taking me to the hospital. When can you get there? Robert: I'm in a meeting with the battalion chief. So, I'll be there as soon as possible. Andy: Okay.

(Andy and Vic have arrived at the hospital. Andy has gotten checked in and Carina is going to come to check Andy.) Carina: Hey, Andy. So, I heard that you're water broke. So, I need to check with you. (Carina checks Andy.) Carina: You're 6.5cm and the last time I check you, which was two days ago, you were only 1cm dilated. How long have you been having contractions? Andy: Since five or six yesterday, evening. I thought they were Braxton hicks. Vic: What?! Andy: Sorry, I didn't tell you. I thought I should be at the station if it was real labor. Vic: Okay. Carina: I'm going to have your nurse come in, and run a strip to check on the baby. We can hold off on the pitocin for now, and see how you progress. Andy: Okay. Carina: Where's Robert? Andy: In a meeting. Carina: Okay. Well, he should get here. Andy: I know.

It's now been three hours. Andy's nurse comes in every hour, and Andy's now 8.5cm dilated. Over those three hours, Vic has been helping Andy labor. She's been calling Robert every hour to check when he can come. Jennifer is busy teaching, so she can't make it to the birth. Then, Travis is busy on shift. So, Andy's only support person right now is Vic. So, Andy decided to call Lucas.

(Andy calls Lucas.) Andy: Hey, Luke. Lucas: Hey, what's going on? Andy: I'm in labor and Robert's in a meeting with a battalion chief. I've been at the hospital for the past four hours. I want Robert. He can't miss the birth of his son. Lucas: I'll work on getting him there, I'm also heading up there. Andy: Okay. Thank you, Luke. Lucas: You're welcome. (They hang up. Then Luke heads to his station. Busts into the meeting, and yells at the battalion chief.) Lucas: Battalion Chief Smith, this man's fiance is in labor. I just got a call from her, yelling for the father of her child. This meeting is over! Sullivan, grab your stuff. (That makes the battalion chief, let Robert go. So, Robert drives with Lucas to the hospital. By the time Robert got there, Andy is 9cm dilated. When he busts in the room, Andy is relieved.) Andy: Finally. (Robert kisses Andy.) Andy: Why'd he want to know? Robert: My past and everything about my firefighter time in Montana and Seattle. I'm so sorry, it took so long.

(Carina comes into the room.) Carina: Andy, it's time to get ready to have your little boy. (They transform the room.) Nurse Alice: So, we're going to work on pushing. (They work on pushing, and after fifteen minutes, they call Carina in.) Carina: So, I heard we have a good pusher. (Andy pushes for five more minutes.) Carina: Andy, I can see his head. Do, you want to see it? (Vic and Robert look.) Robert: He has dark brown hair. (Andy pushes two more times, and he comes out. He's immediately put on Andy's chest. When he's put on Andy's chest, Liam starts to cry. When Liam starts to cry, and when Andy sees him for the first time, she starts to cry.) Andy: He's here. Robert: Yes, he is. He's so handsome. Andy: I can't believe that he's on my chest. Robert: I know.

Over the next hour, Andy holds Liam on her chest, and she feeds him. After an hour, the nurse comes and weighs Liam. He weighs 7lb 7oz and is 19in length. Over that hour, Robert has stayed by Andy's side, but Vic went and saw Lucas. Before she went and saw Lucas, she took a picture of Liam on Andy's chest and sent the picture to the entire team. When she sent it, the whole team headed to the hospital. After an hour, Lucas and Vic came into Andy's room. When they came back, the nurse was wrapping up Liam. Alice: Robert, you're first to hold him.

Robert holds Liam and starts to cry. Vic gets pictures. Liam then gets passed to Lucas, and a picture gets taken. He then gets passed to Vic. When he gets passed to Vic, she starts to cry. Lucas took a picture. Andy was watching them pass him around the whole time.

Andy: The team can meet him in postpartum, but I want Travis and Jennifer to meet him before the team. Vic: Understood. (After a couple of hours, Andy is transferred to postpartum. When she is transferred to postpartum, Jennifer and Travis came and saw Liam. When they came in, he was nursing.) Jennifer: Where is he? Andy: On the boob. Travis: Let's wait. The team is jealous that I get to meet him, before them. Andy: Then they should have supported me and Robert. Jennifer: I know. (Andy finishes nursing Liam. She then hands him to Jennifer.) Andy: Lucas almost cried with him in her arms. Jennifer: I bet. He never thought Robert would have kids, since Claire died, and now he has a son with a woman he wants to marry. Andy: He never told me that. Jennifer: He's very private sometimes. (Liam gets handed to Travis.) Travis: How are you feeling? Andy: Very sore. I did it without an epidural. It was hard, but I did it. Travis: That's good. I wished I was here the whole time. Would you rather be a mom or a firefighter? Andy: That's hard to answer. I love being a firefighter, but I haven't been a mom for long. So, I can't answer. However, I have never felt this kind of love. This is a new kind of love. This love is stronger than the love I have for Robert. This love is unexplainable. Travis: Wow. (Robert comes back.) Jennifer: Hey, daddy. Robert: Hey. (Robert takes his son.) Andy: Tell, the team they can come and meet him after I've rested or sometime tomorrow. Travis: Okay. They won't be happy. Andy: I really don't care. Travis: Okay. Andy: Please, don't them I don't care. Travis: I won't. Andy: Thank you.: End of Conversation After that, Andy rested and fed Liam every two hours.

Liam's A Day Old... When Andy woke up this morning and saw her son, she smiled. Around nine, Carina came in to check on them and told Andy that she gets to go home. When Andy heard that, she was terrified.

Around noon, her paperwork came thru and said she could go home. So, they dressed Liam, put him in his carseat, and went home. When they got home: Vic, Lucas, and Jennifer were there to greet them. They had brought the bassinet downstairs, along with some other things.

After she had been home for a couple of hours, she invited the team over. Vic has been there since she had gotten home. When the team got there, Liam was feeding. After he was done feeding, Maya got to hold him. When Maya held him, she realized that Robert was here to stay and that Andy is her best friend. Also, that she can't lose Andy. After Maya, everyone else took a turn. Vic took a picture of Liam with everyone.

After everyone left, Maya stayed behind and held Liam for hours. While she was holding him, Andy and Maya talked. They mended their friendship, because of Liam.
