EVER SINCE my breakup with Peter, I've been in a major depression stage. I don't actually have depression, but you get the point.
All I've been doing recently is shooting hoops in the backyard late at night and hiding out in my room, trying to think about what I did so wrong to Peter that makes him want to skip out on me all the time.
At first, I thought I wasn't the problem but now I'm starting to think I was. I mean, I'll admit I'm not the nicest person to be around sometimes. I have a major attitude and I'm not scared to hurt a bitch's feelings if I have to.
Maybe that scared him off?
"Miss Carter?" My Spanish teacher calls out, making me snap out of my thoughts and look towards her.
"Yeah?" I sigh.
"Were you paying attention?"
I roll my eyes. "Let's not beat around the bush, you and me both know I wasn't paying attention. Can we skip to the part where you give me a warning?"
I didn't mean to be disrespectful. If anything, I never usually give any attitude if the teacher doesn't give me one first. I'm just in a really shitty mood.
"I don't think so." She folds her arms. "We can skip to the part where I send you to the principals office."
"Sure." I sigh, getting out of my seat and packing my stuff up.
"And make sure you come and see me at the end of the day. We have important matters to discuss."
I nod at her before slinging my backpack over my shoulder and dragging my feet over to the office.
On my way there, I bump into someone. Immediately, I apologise, since I'm the one who wasn't paying attention.
"Nah, you're alright." The boy says to me, smiling. His teeth are so white, they have privileges of their own.
"Are you new here?" I ask. "I haven't seen you around before."
"Yeah, I am." He chuckles. "I'm Von."
"Jordyn." I nod at him. "Where you headed?"
"Bathroom." He says, showing me the vape in his hands. "Nice to meet you, Jordyn."
"Yeah, you too." I say politely, watching him as he saunters over to the boys bathroom.
I know it's wrong to be gawking over a guy less than a week of breaking up with Peter but this Von guy is fine as hell. No denying that.
Instead of going to the principals office, I go to the gym and drop my bag down on the bleachers. Grabbing a basketball, I stand on the black circle in the basketball lines of the court and start shooting from there.
Since I'm distracted with Peter, I miss nearly every single basket.
"Fuck." I say to myself as I miss yet another hoop.
