I unlocked my locker and threw my books in. Mom had volunteered me for helping the new students without me even knowing, and now I'd have to help them around all week. I know how hard it is to join a new school, but Maple wasn't that hard to fit in, the only bully was Cassie otherwise everyone did their own thing.
I didn't have time for this, I had to study for my french test, and this time I was serious about getting good marks. Mr. Marien said if the whole class got above 90 percent, we'd do a pizza movie party in class. And if I'm the only one who didn't get over 90, first of all Bryan would always taunt me for it, and the class would hate me.
Suddenly the principle's voice muffled through the intercom, announcing for me to come to the principal's office. I looked over to where Talia was taking her books out of her locker, she glanced at me wishing me luck.
When I got there I knocked on the principal's office. "Come in" She said from inside. I opened the door and there was a guy sitting there. Blonde curly short hair and a Blue shirt.
In our school we had four house teams and it was just to make us competitive. Each team competed against the others to win either a pizza party or a prize. The names were Blue, Red, Green, and Yellow. Our teachers are so lazy they couldn't even come up with a good name for the teams. He was in the Blue team with Leo, Vanessa, and Chloe. Talia, Bryan, and I were in the Green team.
The boy turned to face me and I recognized him instantly. "Luke, says you guys are friends" The principal said, I snorted, quiet enough for the principal not to hear.
"So all you have to do today is help him get around the school for a couple days, and I put him in your class, so make sure to introduce him to your friends." The principal said and walked out of the room just like that. "Sorry guys staff meeting and I'm late so please close the door behind you."
I looked at Luke and he was grinning at me, I glared at him, walking out the principal's door "Wait, Ashley can I please talk to you for a minute?" He said getting up, I nodded stepping back in the room.
"Ok so I know how we met wasn't really...great, but now I'm in this school...so how about we start again?" He said, I stayed quiet.
"Hi I'm Luke Rodriguez" He said putting his hand out. I looked at his hand then back at him, I sighed loudly "Hi, I'm Ashley" I said.
"So any questions...I am the new kid" He laughed
"Actually yes, why'd you join this school out of all the other schools?" I asked
"Oh I was actually going to join Gingery High, but mom heard you and Bryan go to Maple high so she put me here as well" He said. "Also why do the schools here have such weird names" He asked with a confused look.
"What do you mean" I asked
"Well we're in Maple high, then there's Oak high, Ginger-y high, Apple high. These names are so random, it's like a fruit and vegetable shop or something" He said, I laughed at that.
"I guess you're right the names are really weird" I said still laughing a little.

We walked around the school and I showed him where his classes are. We were walking outside, where the football and basketball field was ahead of us. I was showing him where the school buses line up to take students home.
"So where's Bryan?" Luke asked looking around "He's in this school right?" He asked. I nodded "He's in class, I got a free period, to help you out" I said. He nodded looking ahead.
"So I didn't know we could wear whatever we wanted, I thought we had to wear these cotton colored shirts to school" He said, pulling on his shirt.
"No, thank god, but we have to wear it for PE or any other events" I said laughing.
