Another chapter, here ya go!
"I'm happy to say, the operation was successful" The doctor said taking off his mask and smiling, Mom sighed in relief and held her head, I relaxed and you could see how physically relaxed Bryan became. This operation was nerve racking for everyone. Uncle Jordan asked if they could see her and the doctor said in a couple minutes.
"Can she go home?" Bryan asked hesitantly.
"Unfortunately she can't, we need to make sure the cancer has no way of spreading and that she doesn't have any side effects." The doctor said, Bryan nodded. I sat down and pulled Bryan to sit as well, we had been pacing around and I had just realized how my legs were burning from walking. I put my back against the cold metallic chair and rested my head on my mom's shoulder, she patted my hair. Uncle Jordan came from the corner hallway where he was talking with the doctors.
"Clarice will have to stay a couple nights here, but I met her and she's doing great, but only one person can stay with her, Anne if you want to-" Uncle Jordan said, I knew everyone here wanted to stay with her, I wanted to stay here all night just know that she's ok, but then again Uncle Jordan, Mom and Bryan needed to be with her more.
"No Jordan, it's fine you can stay, just please make sure to tell us how she's doing every couple hours" Mom said, Uncle Jordan nodded.
"Bryan you wanna stay?" He asked patting his back.
"Yeah, I'll stay" Bryan said
"No you can't stay, Clarice asked me to make sure you go to school" Mom said.
"Aunt Anne-" Bryan said.
"I promised her, and in this condition if you want her to be happy with you, you have to do what she wants you to" Mom said sternly, Bryan gave up and sat back in his seat.
*********
We drove home and Mom allowed us to skip the rest of school today, but she said we'd both go to school tomorrow no matter what. We were at home and no one would say anything, Izzy tried cheering Ben up, but he would just sit quietly in the corner, I felt horrible, the poor kid couldn't believe what was happening. And so when my dad came home from work, he said we'd get those holly's cupcakes which he promised me to get if I went to that stupid party Cassie had.
I didn't feel even a little excited, after all what was the point, when Aunt Clarice was at the hospital, she was my cupcake buddy, we would try something from every best bakery of every city, so when she isn't here I didn't want to go. But unlike me it did cheer up Ben and he had a small smile on his face, I packed two for Aunt Clarice, a red velvet and a vanilla muffin, she loved these flavors the most, Bryan took a coffee, but other than that it wasn't great.
********
A couple days after when Aunt Clarice comes home.********
"Alright I'm leaving now, but I'll be back as soon as I can" Uncle Jordan said pointing his finger to Aunt Clarice. She was laying in bed with a cheeky smile."We" Bryan said putting on his coat, "right" Uncle Jordan said then turned to me "Ashley I know you'll take great care, but don't let Clarice bribe you into giving her any sugar or letting her feet touch the ground"He said sternly, Bryan nodded in agreement.
"Yes sir" I said saluting, they left the house and now would be gone for at least three hours.
"So Aunt Clarice, do you want to watch a movie?" I asked, Aunt Clarice sighed.
"How about we just talk for now?" Aunt Clarice said.
"Um, ok what do you want to talk about" I asked sitting next to her on the bed crossing my legs over one another.
"Anything, but please just don't talk about these last few weeks, I'm fine, there are so many people who survived and so will I, I don't need you guys to act like I'm..." He r voice trailed off as she talked in a tone which sounded like she was scolding me. I guess she had a point, when I get sick or don't feel well, I hate how everyone keeps asking if I'm fine, it makes me feel like I might not get better. So that's exactly why I decided to forget about cancer and talk to her like I always would, I started with one of her favorite topics.
"Aunt Clarice, remember when you and Mom forced me to go to that party?" I asked, then I remembered more details of that night and winced at the memory, Aunt Clarice was now smiling.
"Oh how can I forget, that was the best decision I could make." She said, then her expression changed and she looked like she wasn't happy "Except I wish I hadn't told Bryan to take you." She said disappointedly. My eyes widened did she know what had happened?!
"You guys must've been fighting and arguing the whole time, besides I don't think Bryan would've let you even talk to any other guy" She said, I rolled my eyes.
"Exactly, can you please remind you son constantly not to 'protect' me, I can handle pretty well alone" I said crossing my arms.
"Aw come on Ashley, sweetheart you know he cares about you as much as we do, and he just doesn't want guys messing around with you, unless their serious." She said, patting my cheek, the chance of her being correct right now was less than 1%, but I didn't say anything.
"Oh by the way, I wanted to ask you something and so I waited while Bryan got the car out, but then Bryan told me that you go to school with this boy... Luke now?" She asked with a confused expression, I bit my lip.
"Uh, yeah well..." I didn't know what to say "I can't spend my whole life with Bryan next to me, and I think maybe you're right I should get a boyfriend" I said quickly before I actually processed what I had just said, on the other hand Aunt Clarice's eyes lit up.
"Oh my goodness! I thought I would never hear those words!" She said squeezing me into a hug, I hugged her back, as much as I loved how happy Aunt Clarice was I was not happy about what I knew she'd say next.
"So Luke, huh? Is he nice?" She asked, I nodded hesitantly. "Wait a minute, are you talking about Stacey and Frank's son?" She said getting even more excited.
"Uh-huh" I said nodding meekly, she gasped.
"Ooh Luke is such a sweet boy, he is so kind, I'm so happy" She said, I felt like she was a teenager dancing because her BFF just got crowned prom queen. Aunt Clarice was like that, she always thought gossiping and boy talk was so fun.
"So when is you first date?" She asked, "Are you official? Did he first say he likes you?" She had so many questions and I couldn't answer even one.
"Aunt Clarice I said I think I should get a boyfriend, not that I have one or if it will be Luke" I said, she calmed down a bit.
"Right. But don't just go for looks, I mean yeah, I would've, but you shouldn't, be picky!" She commanded, I lay back on the bed laughing. Aunt Clarice was even more interested in my love life than Talia or myself.
Hey Guys sorry I haven't added any new chapter the last couple days, but I honestly didn't know where I want the story to go, but now I know that Aunt Clarice plays a very important part, so I'll be uploading more often, except I have to get my second dose of my vaccination so if I don't then that means I have a fever, or that my arm hurts too much to write.
Love y'all! :)
