Adriana's POV:
"Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood."
Those were the words that had me hooked from the moment I heard them.
"If you're watching this because you think you might be one-" Suddenly, the male voice was interrupted.
"Percy, what are you doing?" So his name was Percy!
The video was terrible quality. It was grainy, and you could barely see the man's face. It was covered in shadows, so the only thing I could make out were his beautiful ocean eyes. It was like Billie Eilish's song was made for him.
So yeah, that's how I found out about The Heroes of Olympus. I had been one of the few people to be subbed to them from the beginning. It had started 2 years ago, when most of the Heroes were their first/second years of college. They only made videos for fun. Now they were literally getting paid. They had a diamond play button, which they kept in their filming/rec room.
Recently, some of our beloved Heroes had graduated. The had been posting fewer videos for a while (tests and all, y'know?), and they eventually stopped posting.
I was looking through Instagram one day (July 4th. I didn't have anything better to do), and I saw that Leo (who had the most followers on any social media platform out of all the Heroes) had posted something about fireworks at a camp. The comment section was mainly The Heroes chatting with subscribers and fighting with each other. It made me smile.
I asked if they would be posting soon, and Jason responded, saying that they were going to hold another live stream soon. The first live stream lasted a couple of hours, and ended with majority of the Heroes falling asleep. It was kind of funny and cute.
Now, back to the present.
"Mom, where'd my book go?" My younger brother, Mario, asked. Mom crossed her arms and leaned against the fridge.
"The book about the gay girl?" she asked.
All conversation in the house stopped. Dad even turned off the TV. My baby sister stopped playing with her Barbies, like she knew the word gay was "bad".
Mario's cheeks flared, and he looked at the ground.
"Mario, where did you get that book from?" Mom asked.
"Library," my little bro muttered.
"And that is where you'll return it to," Mom threw a book at Mario, who caught it. Mario turned around and I saw him bite his lip. I could feel my heart breaking for my brother.
I'd always hated it when my parents hated on the LGBTQ+ community. Even when I was a kid, and didn't know what the word gay meant. I'm all about equality. Not in a hippie-esque way or anything, it just badly pisses me off when people discriminate others.
I'd hated it even more after my brother came out as asexual to me. Mario and I had never had that hating relationship that most siblings had. That was how it was between us and our little sister. We'd had always been tight, even as little kids. I knew how much it affected him when our parents talked like crap.
