Jennie

Another month.

Another period of loss and grief. Lisa didn't want to see me, and neither did she bother calling me anymore. She would text, only to ask when she can pick Ella up. I've been a coward, I wasn't even able to ask how was she. Seems like this was an endless cycle that can either end on bad terms or we can go somewhere. But, I couldn't.

A framed picture of our wedding, of us dancing, was softly placed on my lap.

All I've done is crash on the memories.

Of our past.

Of our love.

Of our wedding.

"Baby?". Her smooth voice comes in, as I stand nervously in front of her. Noticing the crowd of our friends and her family from around us, as she took me in her arms to dance.

"I'm sorry". I apologized to no one.

"For what, darling?". She frowned, "I can tell you're nervous about all of this, but hey, if it makes you feel better, so am I". A charming smile was sent my way to calm me, and it worked.

"That makes the two of us". I wrapped my arms around her neck and looked into those doe eyes, that made me love the light, the rays of the sun, and the mornings.

"You're so beautiful, has anyone told you that?". Her lips were inches away from mine, and she looked like a dream.

"Once or twice". I teased her.

Protective arms were around my waist, pulling me closer to her—feeling me closer than ever, "Your beauty is so underrated, Jennie. I wish the whole world can see how much of a gem you are".

"Lisa..". I choked the tears.

"Shhh". She leaned her cheek on mine to speak in my ear as we slowly danced like everyone else wasn't there and it was only us, "I wish I can use my eyes as a camera, to surely take pictures of your grace, my love".

"This day is so special, and I promise you, from now on, I will try my best to make you the happiest you've been". Her voice and words were sending shivers down my spine, making me enjoy the intimacy.

With this love, no shame.

I whispered back, "You make me happy".

Her hand squeezed my waist in reassurance, "I'm glad. That's my job from now on". When she pulled away, her smile widens like I'm the best thing she ever had, "To see the light through every darkness and to love you, Mrs. Manoban".

"Cheesy wife". I playfully teased her.

"Yours, Jennie".

The trigger for my tears was the picture beside my lap.
