Jennie
After the talk with her grandmother, I found the courage to call Jisoo in the evening. My hands were shaky, cause I didn't know what such wrath her best friend held. Even Seulgi would avoid speaking to me—their gazes all telling me I'm the cause of Lisa's pain.
I gulped hard and dialed her number.
The first ring, nothing.
The second ring, no answer.
The third ring, no—"Jennie Kim".
Her cold deep voice greeted me, I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out, she spoke again, "I can hear you breathing over the phone, speak up. I don't have time to waste".
"Jisoo, how are you?".
"Since when do you call and ask about me, Sister-in-law?". Sarcasm poured out of her voice, nonetheless, she answered, "I'm great, thanks for asking".
She sighs, "How about you, Kim?".
"I'm okay".
"Lies".
"What?".
"You sound awful". My jaw dropped at her words, "Excuse me?".
"Quit the act, and say what you want, I'm kind of in a rush and have to go".
This is it.
"Jisoo, by any chance, do you know where Lisa is? I've tried calling her, but her number is out of reach and—".
She cut me off, "Well no shit, she blocked you".
My heart dropped.
Jisoo snorted, "I'm joking, she isn't using her phone".
A sigh of relief left my mouth, she heard it and taunted, "Why do you want to know anyway?".
"I need to speak to her".
The line went silent for a few moments.
"Jisoo?".
"Sorry, I'm heating my chicken".
I tried not to laugh, but this was too serious for me, than to just laugh at how random she is.
"As I said, I need to speak to her, Jisoo. It's urgent".
