Jennie

There was a soft breeze on my window, a rational wind that wanted to feel what it's like to be home. I stood inside a wooden-made house, that shielded me from the cold weather outside.

Slowly, I hoped that the sun would come out faster. That the heavy rain would stop, tick-tock. Tick tock on the wall, time became soundless to my heavy breathing. Two soft hands are placed on my eyes gently.

"Guess who am I?". I heard her sweet voice echo. It was Lisa. My lover—the woman who fought for me for so long, standing behind me. I could feel her smile, my heart joyfully embraced her presence. "Hmm, let me guess". Her hands dropped, "You really didn't know me, Jen?".

I swiftly turned around and placed my hand on her cheek, her big brown eyes dilated at me, she really looked like a lost puppy.

"Relax hon, of course, I knew that was you. Who else would it be?". A smile crossed my face.

Her face softened as I gently caressed her cheek, "Baby, you really look lost".

"I thought you really didn't know me".

I rolled my eyes playfully and pecked her lips, tilting my head to look at her doe eyes that captured me in every way. "How can I not know the feel of the hands of the one I'm in love with?". She melted at my words.

"You really know what to say, baby, don't you?". Lisa gently wrapped her arms around me, pulling me closer to connect our foreheads together. I took a deep breath, her warmth made me want to be in her arms forever.

"Just speaking my truth, hon". My reply made her peck my lips, I pouted and muttered, "Another one?".

Lisa laughed, "You're such a baby at times".

"I'm your baby though".

"Really?". Lisa pulled away and teasingly walked past me.

"My bitch resting face is sulking". I followed her as she entered the Kitchen, grabbing the bags of groceries. Lisa smiled, "Come here, let me give you a kiss". As she was about to approach me, I shrugged my head. "I don't want it anymore".

"My love, come on".

"I'm upset with you".

"But why?".

"You're making me question if I really am your baby or not". I teased her. Moments later, I felt her body behind me. Her arms wrapped around me, making me feel warm as I heaved a sigh. Relief washed over me—Lisa always made me feel safe. What sort of effect was she good at having?

I grew so used to the feel of her skin on mine. "You know you will always be my baby, Nini".

She kissed my shoulder, "My girl.. and wife".

My heart picked up a different pace, even my eyes widened at her last words. Words fell out of her mouth so naturally, confusing the trumpet inside of me. Is this what being in love feels like? I've always tasted the bitter feeling of it—the pain that came out of it. This time, It feels so different.
