Chapter 5 (Investigation)

Hajime started investigating near the body, he stared at the power cord attached to the table.

Sora: "Hey, what are you doing?"

Hajime: "Oh. Just wondering about the lamp. It just feels out of place..."

Sora: "Compared to all the lighting?"

Hajime: "Yeah, exactly!"

Sora: "Hm..."

Hajime: "I'll just... ignore it for now..."

Hajime picked up a pair of goggles from near Byakuya's corpse.

Hajime: "What the heck are these?"

Nagito: "They look like night-vision goggles. I've seen them available at the supermarket, along with other self defense items."

Sora: "Why would the killer leave these behind?"

Hajime: "Not sure, but it's evidence now."

Sora: "..."

Nagito: "Is everything alright uhh..."

Sora: "Sora."

Nagito: "Right, thanks. Is everything alright?"

Sora: "The knife here... something doesn't seem right..."

Hajime: "You mean the paint? Wait hang on..."

Hajime shut the lamp off and covered the knife with the cloth.

Hajime: "Glow paint!"

Sora: "Interesting."

Hajime: "Wait... there's some on the tape here as well."

Sora: "Must've been set there ahead of time."

Hajime: "You're pretty good at all this."

Sora: "I guess it's easier when you don't remember anything..."

Gundham: "Hell hound earring! Answer my call!!"

Hajime: "I'll go see what's happening."

Sora nodded and Hajime got up to talk to Gundham.

Gundham: "Impossible! Is this attempt truly futile!?"

Hajime: "You still looking for that earring?"

Gundham: "It is not an 'earring'! It is the earring of the mighty hell hound! A beast that I have tamed, and as a reward, I received the Hell Hound Earring. I cannot let something so grand sit around out of my sight!"

Hajime: "Right..."

Gundham: "Perhaps it fell through the floor? An earring like that could so easily fall through the gaps in the floor."

Hajime: 'Wait... is it possible that someone stabbed Byakuya from under the floorboards!?'

Hajime: "Gundham, is there a way under the floor boards that you're aware of?"

Gundham: "Indeed, I shall investigate for the earring under the floor."

Gundham ran off and Hajime discovered Mahiru, shaking.

Hajime: "Hey, Mahiru. Are you doing okay?"

Mahiru: "N-No... not really. Just one single black out and Byakuya's already dead? Why would any of us kill each other!? It doesn't make any sense!?"

Mahiru calmed down a little.

Mahiru: "Maybe... if I acted better during the blackout... he'd still be alive..."
