I fixed my hair, put on my ripped jeans and jumper. I checked the time on my phone and saw that it was almost six. I hurriedly grabbed my bag and went out the door. I texted my mum that I was heading out and got into my car.
I drove downtown and I saw Daryl standing outside the cafe waiting for me. He looked so hot I was gonna cry. Seriously, I didn't didn't know I could cry over that.
His hair was messy as always, he was wearing a Nike shirt and blue jeans.
His face lit up when he saw me leave my car. I smiled as I walked up to him and he linked our arms. Instantly I felt like this was going to be a great date.
"Here.", he pointed to the table in front of us. I nodded and took my seat. Daryl sat down in front of me and a waitress came to take our orders.
"Can I have a hot chocolate please?", I smiled and rubbed my legs. She nodded and took Daryls order.
"Same here."
The waitress nodded and left to go get our drinks.
"Thanks.", I said looking at him.
"For what?", he laughed.
"This."
Daryl looked up at me and smiled.
After a while our drinks came but they were too hot so we waited.
"Why did you even ask me out? What do you see in me?", I asked nervously.
Daryl looked me up and down taking his time to form his answer.
"Becaue I like you. You're hella pretty and I can't get enough of you.", he said truthfully. I blushed, I never thought I would hear that from one of the most popular boys in my school.
"Seriously. Why?"
"That's the truth.", he said taking a sip from his hot chocolate.
"Thanks."
"But I think the more important answer is whyd you accept?"
"Because I felt sorry for you.", I joked.
"Seriously. Why?", he repeated.
"Because I think you're a nice guy. Plus, you're a great kisser.", I laughed nervously.
He laughed too and we were both laughing.
I drank my hot chocolate and when I finished we left. We paid the waitress before we went and then we were on the road.
"Where do you wanna go now?"
"Let's relax.", I said.
"I have an idea."
"Where to?", I asked getting into my car.
"The beach."
My eyes widened at his response but I drove there nonetheless.
When we arrived it was empty. The sun had already started setting and the sand had cooled down already. There was wind but not as much. My hair flowing against the calm wind and Daryls eyes watched me as I got onto the sand. I slipped off my shoes and plopped down. I spread my legs wide open and Daryl sat next to me, doing the same thing.
"Can I ask you something?", I asked.
"Sure."
"What's going on between you and Daniel?", I asked.
"What do you mean, there's nothing wrong.", he looked away.
"Please.", I begged.
"It's nothing, alright?", he said beginning to get defensive.
I nodded.
"Now it's my turn.", he smiled.
"Okay.", I said, sitting up.
"Can I now ask you what's going on between you and that crazy man?", he asked, looking at me. I looked back at him and contemplated whether or not I should tell him.
"Sure," I sighed and began, "That guy, his name is Tommy and he's my step dad. Tommy's always been a little...mad. He wasn't a usual parent nor step parent. He would always abuse me. Beat me up until I couldn't breath, until I was unconscious and in the hospital. He took joy in the pain that he gave me because of one thing. Tommy was able to scare my mum, show her he was powerful, strong and that if she messes up their relationship, he would hurt her."
"The day after we moved here, I heard him. The night before they went out clubbing, and my dad was so drunk that he was still drunk in the morning. He was beating my mum. Hit her. I mean for fucks sake we both nearly died. Luckily our neighbour heard screaming and shouting and called the police, they got there just in time. "
"Tommy was always drunk, always hurting us, and if it wasn't my mum there it would be me. He would hurt me in unimaginable ways."
Daryl was staring at me, apologetically. I shook my head.
"Too many people have said the same thing over the over again. And I've had enough.", I cried. Daryl cradled me in his arms. I felt comfort when he held me. I felt calm and I stopped crying. I looked up at him and his blue beautiful eyes. Those were something I loved to see.
"Do you wanna go home?", he asked.
I shook my head. I liked the gentle breeze on my face and watching the tide go forward and back. The sound of the ocean waved calmed me. He nodded and let me go.
"I think, we should skinny dip.", I heard him whispered into my ears. His voice was rich, low and seductive.
I nodded, excited for it.
I let him go first. He slipped off his shirt, and I couldn't help staring at his abs. They were oh so perfect. I wanted to pull him toward me but he stopped what he was doing when he noticed I was looking. I shook my head and turned away.
"You enjoying the view?", he laughed.
I rolled my eyes.
"Done!", and I turned around. All his clothes were lying on the sand floor. He was facing away, already in the water.
"I promise I won't look. Although I might peek!", he teased.
I quickly got undressed, it was almost midnight and there wasn't anyone there but I couldn't help thinking someone was watching me. I turned around and Daryl was facing away. I got scared and ran into the water, and to his safety.
