Day Two: inspired by a song
Song: Road Trip by Dream (featuring PmBata)Set after season 15
Nya had changed a lot since her parents came back. Jay remembered the nights where he'd be holding Nya as she told him about why she didn't trust her parents and that they could've still been traitors, still working for the Time Twins.
Now she's gone.
Jumping up into the driver's side of Nya's old van from her motor vehicle shop, he fastens his seatbelt, shuts the door and begins to drive into Ninjago City. Flicking the radio on, Jay bobs his head to the music, drumming his fingers against the steering wheel. Stopping at the traffic lights, Jay finds himself glaring at the music, mentally hearing the seconds tick by. As soon as the song switches over, the lights switch to green. Jay revs the engine before driving off.

After a night in a Bed and Breakfast, Jay's driving up the east coast. Pulling into a nearby lay-by, he stops the engine and climbs out of the van, shivering as the cool wind hits his bare arms. Pulling his arms towards his body, he sits on a bench, staring out into the mountains.
"I-I miss you."
Silent tears roll down Jay's cheeks as he stares out.
Jay stares at Nya as they finish the Jaya on the dance machine. His heart does backflips, butterflies in his stomach. I love you so, so much.
Keeping his head down, Jay trudges back to the van, climbing in and driving down the mountain road. Glancing out of the left, blue tides glide into the dip under the mountain. Continuing down the mountain road, Jay searches for the turning to the beach. Taking a sharp left, Jay pulls into the small beach car park, he pulls his jacket on before heaving the car door open.
The cool wind smacks Jay in the face, making the teen close his eyes from the force. Slamming the door closed, he walks down to the shoreline, stuffing his hands into his pockets as he stares out into the ocean. Silent tears trickle down his cheeks as his eyes scan the ocean, desperate for any sign of Nya.
"I-I really miss you."
"He would like to know if you like blue."
"It's my favourite colour."
Jay's face lights up as he silently punches the air. It's her favourite colour.
🍂🍂🍂🍂
Jay lays on their bed, phone in hand as tears stream down his cheeks. He scrolls up to a picture of him and Nya after the second attempt of their first date at Mega Monster Amusement Park. Nya had her arm looped through his and she's smiling widely, trying to hold in a giggle. A very faint smile forms on Jay's lip as he continues to scroll through the photos, unaware that the tears are rolling down faster.
The next photo was an incredibly blurry one, but it was a memory that Jay remembered.
Their dragons roar as they fly upwards, towards the setting sun. Jay smiles as Nya giggles and flies next to him.
"The sunset looks much better up here."
"Yeah...it does," Jay agrees, unable to keep the awe out of his voice.
"We should come up here more often, shouldn't we?" Nya's angelic voice calls out to him, her dark eyes meeting his.
"Yes. Definitely."
"I-I'm sorry Nya. W-We...we never went back."
🍂🍂🍂🍂
Not even a month later, Jay finds himself back on the interstate. This time, in his blue Ford. Jay silently climbs out of his Ford, his shoes thumping against the stone floor of the interstate. Jay shivers and pulls his coat tighter around his body.
He'd taken Nya to the cliffs a few months before she'd left. They'd sat at the top and just talked about life. Jay sinks to the floor, dangling his legs over the side, remembering their first road trip to the mountains.
"I-I'm sorry Nya...I-I know you loved our road trips."
I tried. It turned out less angsty than I initially wanted.
