Day Nine: Centred around a side character
"This was when Jay tried to run away after he overheard us talking about adopting another child so he had a friend," Edna says, turning the picture around in her fingers so Ray and Maya can see.
A five-year-old Jay is stood by the door of the caravan, a blue backpack on his back. His right hand is reaching up towards the door handle as his left hand is clutching Mr CuddlyWomp close to his body. His electric blue eyes radiate fear as he stares up into the camera, his eyes full of tears.
"He didn't like the idea of not having all our attention anymore," Ed chuckles.
Reaching into her pocket, Maya's fingers wrap around a crumpled piece of paper. Pulling it out, Maya unfolds it and lays it flat on her lap.
"This was when Nya wouldn't stop crying. Kai decided to try and cheer her up by juggling. Nya laughed the hardest when he dropped the balls on his foot and acted like a drama queen."
The room erupts with giggles. A fond smile comes across Maya's face as she remembers how happy the family were before she and Ray were forced to work for the Time Twins. She'd missed nearly all of their childhood and when she and Ray came back...they were young adults.
"Did Kai or Nya tell you about Jay kissing his pillows?" Edna asks.
Ray chuckles and nods. Kai had brought it up in a conversation a few weeks ago. Jay's ears had turned red and he stormed out of the room, murmuring curses under his breath as he went.
"He picked it up from Ed."
"Hey! He did not!"
"He did. One night, he came into our room and asked what Ed was doing. I told him that he was kissing a pillow for some reason. I woke up the next morning to Jay curled up on his pillow kissing it."
Edna, Ray and Maya burst into laughter as Ed's cheeks turn a dark shade of red. Ed murmurs something under his breath, trying and failing to come up with a good comeback.
Motivation has gone out of the window-
I may come back to this one
