Lloyd bolts up after a memory, sweat trickling down his forehead. A gentle hand lands on his arm, making him jump and look down.

Nya is crouched next to his bed, gently rubbing his arm, her dark brown eyes reflecting concern. Lloyd blinks back tears as he slowly sits up.

"Should we go downstairs?" Nya whispers.

Lloyd nods and climbs off the bed, silently following her downstairs and into the kitchen. Nya eases him into a chair before carrying a plate over.

The plate is adorned with the cookies that Pixal and Zane had made earlier that day. Pulling two glasses out of the cupboard, Nya places them on the counter before taking the milk out of the fridge. Nya pours milk into two glasses before bringing them to the kitchen table, placing one in front of her best friend.

"Here."

The blonde jumps and looks up, his glossy green eyes meet her sympathetic brown ones. Nya sits down on the chair next to him and slides the plate of cookies towards him. Lloyd sniffles and reaches out with a shaking hand and grabs a cookie. Nya grabs her own cookie and turns to look at him from her seat.

"I know you miss him, Lloyd."

Lloyd looks down, feeling his eyes fill with tears. A soft hand lands on his shoulder and rubs small circles. He leans towards her and allows Nya's arms to wrap around him in a hug. Nya rubs circles into his back as she feels her shoulder become wet.

"I know...I know how hard it is. But he did it for you."

Lloyd looks up at her and Nya nods slightly, rubbing her fingers up and down the boy's arm.

"He did it to protect you. To protect us all."

Nya leans forward and gently rests her forehead against his.

"It's going to be okay."

I feel a little better today! I can actually breathe out of my nose for the first time since Sunday!
