Willy had honestly thought the events of yesterday was a nightmare. He desperately wanted the fact that he had met Lady Scarlett to be a nightmare. He wanted to believe that the fact he was marrying her in a matter of weeks was all a cruel joke his mind made up.
Though, if yesterday was real, he had no regrets about meeting Priscilla. She seemed like a good friend to have.
It was one of those rare occasions where Willy saw fit to join his father in the dining area for breakfast. And that's when he saw her. She was wearing another bright, blue dress, and her face was freshly painted with makeup. The only thing different is that her hair was left to cascade down her back.
So, yesterday hadn't been a nightmare.
"Son," Wilbur stood up when he saw his son. He was pleased and relieved that Willy had decided to join them for breakfast. "I didn't think you'd be joining us"
Willy just gave his father a small and forced smile. He looked around the table for an empty seat but when he saw where the only empty seat was, he cringed. He did not want to sit beside her.
"Come sit, my darling" Scarlett purred, patting the seat next to her and batting her eyelashes. "Come sit next to your wife"
Willy sighed. He sat next to Scarlett. "You know we're not married yet, right?"
"But we will be" Scarlett sighed dreamily. She grabbed onto Willy's arm and leaned against. "Soon" She giggled.
Willy pulled himself out of her grip. Scarlett's face fell when he did. A plate of food was placed in front of Willy. He looked up to the staff member who had done so. "Thank you"
It was a female staff member, so she was wearing a mask. Willy couldn't see it, but she gave him a smile. It was good to know their Prince was still kind to them, unlike the visiting Princess. She had been barking orders at them all morning, and not once did she utter a thanks.
Scarlett glared at the waitress and snapped her fingers. "Bring me another cup of tea, please! And make it fast!"
The waitress scowled from behind the mask, but was grateful the Princess wasn't able to see it. "Yes, right away, Lady Scarlett" The waitress parted for the kitchens.
Scarlett huffed, rolling her eyes. "You need to see about getting some competent staff, King Wilbur"
"My staff can perform their jobs adequately, Lady Scarlett" Wilbur defended. He was rather taken back from Scarlett's statement. "I assure you"
"Well, their adequately isn't good enough" Scarlett replied through a gritted smile.
And that was the last of that conversation as everyone ate their breakfast in silence. Well, it was silent until Willy asked his father. "May I speak to you privately after breakfast, father?"
