This, in the real world, really is the magic potion that makes you change. It changes your attitude to angry or stupid and your mind from crystal clear to fuzzy. And worse ot all, it changes the people around you from carefree and confident to worried and scared shitless.

But, it can also be a good thing. It can calm your nerves and make you want to welcome the fuzzy feeling. This is the potion of forgetting things
..memories...anything.

Some people drink a lot, a little, and some drink absolutely nothing. The people who drink a lot drink to repress memories. The people who drink a little are social people, meaning they only drink to look normal around drinkers and to hide their lack of self confidence. The people who drink nothing have grown up in a world of abuse not only of them and their families, but of alcohol it's self, and they wish to never become anything like the abuser so they leave it well alone.

And isnt it funny that we can can uncover a secretive part of a person by alcohol. Whether it comes out when they're drunk or by their consumption rate. The next morning, once the numb feeling is gone, you get what they call a hangover which is where everything you're trying to repress or forget come crashing back into your mind and beating on your skull trying to get all of your attention. I know how it feels, to wake up, after the numbness is gone, and feel absolutely alone and terrified of giving your full attention to the memories you're recalling or what's next for you.

But, one of the good things in alcohol is the time you get to think. It's about absolutely anything like love or heartache. It makes you not think clearly, but it makes you think about things you want to think about or things you don't, and that is one of the best things about it.

Numbly,
Elizabeth Lynn Martin
