Every year, at this time, everyone has the chance to hit the delete button and start fresh, the decision is completely up to you some decide that their life is going so well that they change absolutely nothing some change only a little so their life can become the perfect fantasy they want. Some change everything from head to toe—deleting an entire year, cutting out people, erasing memories, and changing themselves. And some are the undecided. Who will you be?

There's an exclusive group of people in this world who have is good—great actually. They somehow always manage to end up with all the luck. These people choose to never change anything in their life because of how great it is. Deserving or not, these people always get on my nerves. They seem almost too perfect to be real people and I think that it makes me envious, pissed actually. Because they take such advantage of their glorified life that it makes you wonder what kind of God would give it to them and not you. But, believe it or not, these people's lives aren't as amazing as they seem. Deep within their family are hidden problems that build up until, one day, they finally crack and the damn that held them in breaks open, ruining everything. Everything for them is only good for a time.

The people who change little things are normal. They're probably a working class person who earns their keep. They struggle, just like everyone, and ask for little. These people are the most relatable because of how innocent they may come off. The simple lives they lead remind us of ourselves, either now or when we were children. Their life is never perfect, always appearing to be well, but having bumps. These people truly encapsulate how people are supposed to live—give much take little. Many envy them because they have it all, but they don't—none of us do. Everything for them is a sea, stormy or calm.

The unlucky group of people are those who tear out that doodled covered page in their notebook and start fresh. They are what we all worry for. They're the most unsuspecting group. Look around, at least one of the people in the restraunt or gas station or traffic jam will completely change themselves. This is the last resort for many. It shows that you have no other options. People do this for various reasons: to make something of themselves, to hide from someone, and to try and leave their past. All of these reasons are terrifying—they leave you in the unknown. These people live the most touch and go lives, never knowing if they be found out to have chosen this new beginning.

The undecided are the bravest people on the earth. They're the people who have put themselves out into the world for it to just decide who or what they will be for them. Most everyone is terrified to become this type of person. Some fall into this category out of choice or a last call for true meaning before they change everything about them. The people who do this out of choice are strong, but the ones who do it out of desperation are warriors who charge into the unknown with a full understanding that they will be beat down. For these people, life fucking exciting and scary at the same time. They jump off a cliff with no cord, hoping that, someway somehow, they will be saved.

No one can choose who you will be. This insane decision that comes every year can make or break you. You and you a lone must decide how strong you are, and if you are strong enough for the choice you make. Who will you be? Be someone extraordinary. Make something out of yourself. Prove those judgmental pricks that you made it out of the shithole you were in and that you can do damn well for yourself. This one time a year gives you a choice that is all yours. Take it and fly with it. Let it make your year and let it help you do everything you want it to. Who will you be? I hope you chose to be you.

I have,
Elizabeth Lynn Martin
