Mae's pov
I stared at the doctor as tears blocked my view.
Oh God I'm sorry.
I did try, I really did.
I tried to take care of her.
I tried to be the mother she lost, I tried to protect her.
But I couldn't. I bet you'll be looking down at me from heaven, feeling disappointed at me but I'm sorry. I tried to be her mother. But I was too young and i had no idea how to.
"Had she been eating?" The doctor asked.
Panic crept into my mind.
Oh my God.
No no no what kind of person am I?
She hadn't been eating.
I never saw her in the kitchen. She never ordered pizza, she seldom took her drugs.
"No," I whispered.
"Had she been taking her drugs?"
"I don't know, Mae?" My father asked.
"How could you know? Were you ever there for her? You left me to break the news to her myself that she had cancer," I screamed.
"I was busy getting money. The money you spend." Dad replied.
"Don't flatter yourself, old man. I work for the money I spend. Ever since I turned 18. I'm 22, dude, and you and I have planned on leaving you alone."
"Mae,I am disappointed in you,"
"Oh trust me, the feeling, is mutual," I snapped.
The door swung open as a woman walked in.

Taylor's pov
Another hot afternoon.
The heat was everywhere and customers were overflowing.
I now worked at chocolate sensation to get my mind off stuff for a bit.
I feel so guilty and dirty.
Dylan walked in ruffling my hair.
"Dude, my hair is a no go area. So please refrain from playing with it."
"You sound just like my sister Delilah,"
"Well she sounds like a wise girl,"
My phone rang, looking down at my phone, I realised it was axinna.
"Axinna?"
I heard crying in the background.
"Come to that hospital 10 minutes away from school. Ken's there and she is not good. She's in coma,"

Dylan must have sensed my panic because he shook my shoulders violently.

"Oh my God! I I'm such a bad friend!! I need to be at the hospital. I really hope your gran wouldn't mind me leaving at such a short notice but I have to go I I don't know what to do, oh God I'm such a bad friend, I -"
Dylan cuts me short by placing a kiss on my forehead.

"Go on, be there for your friend," he said again before leaving a lingering kiss on my forehead.

I walked into the reception greeting the nurse at the front desk.
"Hi how can I help you?"
"I-im looking for McKenzie,"
"Who are you to her?"
I'm her cat, what do you think?
"Her best friend,"
"Oh... Your really lucky to have known her."
She replied typing away on her computer.
"There's this young man. Pacing around the room waiting for her to wake up. He could wait forever, oh the poor boy. If only he knew..."
If only he knew what?
"Okay, room 475, you'll find her there. But warning though. She's really not in a good shape. You'll have to be strong."
"I'm a really bad friend. A really really bad person"
She smiled warily. Patting my hand.
"We all are. Now go on I've got a lot of work to do and you clearly have friends to apologize to."
She said glancing at the door.
I smiled thanking her, before running in.
