Chapter 7: The condo

Lazuli's POV:

I was quite irritated when Peridot sat a seat away from me. But I then remembered I had a boyfriend soon when I put her backpack on the left side of me as I leaned back and continued texting Bismuth. They was our babysitter and I was telling them that there was no need to come tonight because I'm gonna take Steven with me. I was just about finished when I turned my head to face peridot taking a long sigh closing her eyes, I saw her back relaxed, her skinny arms crossed as her head leaned back revealing her jawline. god that's so hot I thought to myself as I unconsciously stare at her as my face became hotter and hotter as I began to bite my lip . "Chintons and Winston's Rd" my train of thought was ended when I heard a robotic like voice say as I turned my head quickly followed by pulling the string that triggered the 'stop requested' sign . I tapped Peridots shoulder and gave her back her bag as we both stood up, thanked the bus driver and got off in an instant. "Okay, Lazuli now what" I heard her as I replied "this way I know a short cut" "Alright" said the blonde girl as we continued walking a block down or two.
"I really don't feel like taking another bus, but my house is one more block from here" I said as I walked with my bag hanging on the left side of my body as I glanced over to the short blonde nodding as she listened to her one sided earphone. "So what you into I guess?" She asked as she looked straight forward with her hands in her pocket It looked almost like she was slouching. "Well, I'm into Art, Writing stories and I like to watch shows a lot" I replied as we turned the second corner "Oh that's cool, what kinds of things you like to write about" she said looking at me and taking her glasses off her face to wipe the fog off. I blushed to her question because what I wrote wasn't really for other ears to hear, and it wasn't a personal diary. I think we would all know what they were about by now. "Oh you know, fanfics and stuff-" I said that in almost one breath as I looked up avoiding eye contact. "O-kayy" I heard Peridot drag her reply out as if it was a question. We got to the 5th door on the street and I was happy because I was finally home. But not for long I'm just here to grab my brother and bounce. "Okay wait right here I'll be right back with my brother and stuff" I left my book bag with her outside and jogged towards the door unlocking it with my spare key. I saw my dad passed out on the chair and checked if he was okay. He seemed fine so I ran upstairs and prepared a baby bag with diapers, wipes, baby powder, food, some toys and clothes. Once I loaded that all up on to me I grabbed Stevens little baby basket which was red and had a huge yellow star in the middle I settled it next to me on the floor and gently grabbed my brother settling him in the basket as well. He started to fuss a little and I cooed him back to his sleep. Gently grabbing the basket and the baby bag I went down stairs, but at the end of the stairs was my unaware and concerned drunk dad. "Where are you going with Steven?" He said as he slurred his words "a friend's house so I can study and you can take a break" I said putting the baby and the bag down on the kitchen counter that was right next to the living room. So I could leadmy dad back to his chair as he said "Oh alright.. be safe" my dad wasn't an aggressive drunk, just a sad one. Whenever something about my mom pops up in his head he'd drink endless until he passes out. I sat him down, gave him a kiss on the forehead and grabbed the baby basket checking Steven And grabbing the baby bag as well. I walked south of the door locking it on the way out as I walked over to Peridot waiting. "Hey I called a Cab so Steven doesn't need to be exposed to the bus germs" she gave a small smirk and put her phone back in to her bag. "It should be here in like 10mins tops" she continued. "Oh cool, how'd you know what to say where we are?" I asked "Well for starters I can read where we are" she chuckled as I laughed at my idiotic question.

The cab came about 4minutes after me and Peridot talked about Camp Pinning Hearts, about how Idiotic the characters were and where they fucked up basically. She loaded our bags in the back of the car as I fastened Steven in the middle of us. "We're headed to Dillingham, Liliha (A/N: Lee-Lee-Hah)" I heard Peridot say as she buckled her seat belt, it made me wonder what other things could she buckle down. "Sure thing" the Cab driver said as we drove off and sat back. He had a long beard, and looked as if he was half bald I think, he wore a grey tang top with dream shorts and he had an odd tan line too. There was this Rose Quartz gem on his dashboard, there was also this a picture of him and someone. But I didn't want to be too nosy to care about it.  I was letting my brother hold my hand to keep him calm. "How old is the baby?" I heard the Cab driver say. "Almost 4 months now" I smiled in a polite matter. "Oh wow, you know my daughter is 7 months now" he chuckled and continued "I can't wait to see my little gem when I go back to New York" he sounded like he missed her a lot. "Oh really? How long has it been since you last saw her sir?" I asked, I hoped I didn't hurt his feelings. That would be embarrassing. " I last saw her about.. three months ago I think.. sorry I don't really have good memory anymore" he said as he chuckled  stopping at a red light "I had to move here for a while because at the time I had an important job, and was supposed to make thousands." He chuckled
"What did you do?" I asked
"I used to work as a professor at the Beach City University. I was teaching mostly Math and Physics. Sometimes I'd host the music club" He turned into a parking lot and parked the car on a curb side. Peridot jumped out to grab the bags and as I was unbuckling Stevens car seat he finished his story. "But I was assigned to tutor this rich jock kid. He got me fired because he didn't listen to a single thing I taught him and failed all his Finals Exams." He stopped to take a breath.
"So why are you a cab driver sir?" I looked at him through the rear mirror. His eyes met mine and the words he said nearly broke my heart "I need the money to see my daughter, and it's a struggle to find a job in Beach City don't you think?" He smiled and faced me "Take care Kid, live your life and take on challenges. Do all that cheesy stuff they keep telling you in school. Because one day it's gonna hit hard and you can either learn the hard way or go out the easy way" I nodded my head and got out the car with Steven. He took the money Peridot gave him, but gave us back 50% of it.
Before Peridot could say anything he drove off.
"Did we ever catch his name?" Peridot asked me.
"No, but I wonder what it feels like, to never remember someone or something." I answered as Steven started to fuss "C'mon my condo is over there" Peridot said as she grabbed the bags. As I grabbed my school bag and decided to take Steven out of the baby basket. And carry him in my left arm. He laid his head on my shoulder as I walked up to a small home. There was a doormat that said "I'm not home, I won't answer the door" I giggled and watched Peridot unlock the door. "It's nothing big, but I like it" Peridot said as I walked in and saw the cute Black couches, and a medium sized tv on the floor with a PS4 connected to it. I saw Peridot put down our stuff next to one of the black couches and walk over to the kitchen. "Oo this is homey" I smiled almost blushing. I laid Steven on his stomach comfortably on a pillow as I followed Peridot  peridot to the kitchen that wasn't too far from the living room. She was making a glass of water and was just finishing up as she glanced over to me "So what are we working on for school?"
She drank her glass before I answered "Well first I'm gonna break up with Jasper and confront my sister, you know the one that kissed you" she blushed and looked down as I laughed a little. "So your gonna break up with Jasper? Thought you guys were together since like 8th grade." She said as she out her cup in the sink and looked back at me "yeah we have but it's not cool he made my twin sister do what she did, and plus I'm not being a big fan of the bad boy act" she was listening as she looked at her feet. But I walked over and lifted her chin. "Maybe our lesson should be Chemistry first" I snorted softly
"Electrons and Particles don't mix Lazuli" she said as she removed my hand from her chin and walked to the living room sitting on another chair right across where Steven was. I went to go sit by my brother because he was about to fall. "So what classes are you failing?" She asked as she pulled out her laptop "Social Studies, and Math I know for sure" I said cradling my brother "Okay then let me just go see your infinite and we'd start from there" she said and I agreed as I got up to make my brother a bottle. "So where are your parents Peridot?" I semi-shouted "oh ones in New York probably being a clod and the other is in Australia doing something big" she softly chuckled as I poured the powder into the bottle, covering it and shaking it roughly up and down walking and sitting next to Peridot. I was looking over her computer while I continued shaking the bottle reading the grade books she had. "Damn your in almost every honors. Your that smart?" I looked over to a almost pinkish Peridot as she responded "Yeah, but that's only cause those are my favorite subjects" she said, I reached over her computer and scrolled up. I was shocked when I saw an F for art with out hesitation I screamed "YOUR FAILING ART?" I looked at her with shock.

A/n: almost 2,000 words but this needed to be published quick lmfao
