He didn't get her as far as Brooklyn.

Of course he didn't. It was just another in a long line of screw ups, but at least this one had come with good intentions.

But after all, the road to Hell was paved with those, right? He'd have to check out the highlight reel of all of his good intentions on his way down, when he finally kicked the bucket. Because that was absolutely where he was headed.

She'd figured it out before he had. Of course she had, even before the serum, Kat had been smart, Bucky knew that. She made all of the connections before he did.

She knew that he couldn't just fly her back to the States. She had no identification, and even if she did, it would state that she should look at least thirty-one years older than she currently did. Getting her to America that way was a bust, unless they found someone to forge documents, and there wasn't time for that. If Bucky missed another check in with his therapist there'd be a warrant out for his arrest, they needed to get back that week.

Kat had figured it out though, not long after he had grumbled that information from the other side of their tiny hotel room as he bent over his phone, scrolling for solutions. He'd left out the part about having a court-mandated therapist though.

She had asked all of the right questions. About what had happened to HYDRA, how they had fallen, what information was known... She'd asked about him, about his pardon... And she'd put the pieces together.
