This chapter is a cry for help from anyone who has read The Beatrice Letters.

So, I (finally) bought and read The Beatrice Letters today, and if you've read the book too, you probably already know about the pop-out letters that make an anagram.

I just spent the last like 30 minutes trying to decipher this anagram into something that makes at least a little sense.

So, here are the anagram letters:

E
E
N
S
I
K
R
A
C
T
A
B

And here is what I made out of them:

Beatrice ask N

Snake at Rice / Rice at snake

Snicket area / A Snicket Era / Are a Snicket / Rae A. Snicket / A Snicket ear

Track Beni as E / Track E as Beni

Bea Snicket

Act as Kira E. Beni

Rack Tab is (Nee, Ene, Een)

Trace/track Bea Sni-

Sent (A,I,E,R) back

Here is a compressed list of all the anagrams I figured out, but only the ones that make at least a lick of sense:

Beatrice ask N

A Snicket era / Are a Snicket / A Snicket Ear

Bea Snicket

Trace/track Bea Snicket

Sent R back

If you read The Beatrice Letters and found any more anagrams besides the ones I found, please let me know in the comments!

If you haven't read TBL but you wanna take a crack at the anagram anyways, tell me if you find anything different from what I did.

Also, any theories on what the anagram message might mean would be gladly accepted.

In the meantime, here are my theories (based on the anagrams that sorta make sense)

Warning! I'm about to spoil some of The Beatrice Letters, so skip this next section if you haven't read TBL yet.

Beatrice ask N:

I think that this anagram could possibly mean that Lemony is telling Beatrice the 2nd to ask Vice Principal Nero if he knows anything about where Violet, Klaus, and Sunny might be. (Beatrice says multiple times in her letters to Lemony that she has been separated from her siblings, and needs help finding them.)

But, we all know that Nero is stubborn and awful, and most likely would not be interested in helping Bea find Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, so maybe Lemony knows for certain that the Baudelaires are back at Prufrock, and is simply pointing Bea in the right direction.

A Snicket era / Are a Snicket / A Snicket ear:

This interpretation of the anagram makes a little less sense than the first one, but I'll tell you my theory anyway.

"A Snicket era" may be Lemony's way of telling Bea that many bad things have been happening to the Snickets in their era, a word which here means "a long and distinct period of history with a particular feature or characteristic."

By saying this, he could either he warning her that the era is not yet over, and that she should expect more bad things to happen, (which is typical L.S. style and the most likely option, in my opinion.)

Or he could be telling her that he knows she's going through a tough time, and is willing to help her through it, which would make "A Snicket ear" another likely option, as in, Lemony is willing to lend an ear to Beatrice, and listen to her talk.

He could also just be drowning in self pity, if the anagram is about a bad era in his life as a Snicket.

Then we have the option, "Are a Snicket." Lemony could be trying to tell Beatrice that she is a Snicket, or he could be asking if she's a Snicket, since he doesn't seem to know that she is related to him for a good chunk of the book.

Bea Snicket:

This could either be Beatrice's way of letting Lemony know who she is, or it could be Lemony's way of letting Beatrice know he knows who she is.

Trace/track Bea Snicket:

This could mean that Lemony is trying to let Beatrice know that he is looking for her, (or maybe let his editor know that he's looking for Bea) or it could be Bea's invitation for Lemony to find her.

Sent R back:

This one makes the most sense to me. In one of her letters, Beatrice tells Lemony that she had to trade the ring with the R on it (the same ring that Lemony proposed to Beatrice the 1st with, which was later given to Kit, then to Violet, then to Beatrice the 2nd,) for information about Lemony.

Since Lemony already knows how important this ring is, not only to himself, but to Bea, he may be trying to tell her that he got the ring back from the people she traded it to and is sending it back to her.

Or it could be the opposite, and Bea got the ring back and is sending it to Lemony.

Spoilers over

So yeah, there are my theories. Again, please let me know if you found anything different from the letters, and if you have any more theories about what the anagram might mean.

Thanks for reading! I love you guys <3 :)
