Bill just let out a small chuckle and rolled his eye at you. "Like I was saying." Bill began, causing you to look over at him. Your hair had been messed up and parts of your shirt had been wrinkled from laying on the couch. You felt a twinge of embarrassment knowing you'd have to fix yourself up before the date. "I'm not wearing that, not again."
You let out a small groan and looked up at the ceiling, "Come on it's not even for the whole day".
"Nope," Bill said putting down the journal, he liked reading it on the off chance he had missed something. "I'd look dumb in it," he said looking over at you.
"One no one would be able to see you," you began crossing your arms over one another, "and two you always look stupid."
"Oh shut up," he said throwing a pillow at you. You just laughed, barely catching the pillow.
"Come on," you sounded genuine this time," One thing for me," you said looking over at the demon. "Just this one thing? It'll make me happy" you said giving him a small smile, hoping that pity or empathy would help sway him.
You watched as he stayed quiet, looking off to the wall as if he was in deep thought. He put his hand above his bow tie and began rubbing it. You sat there playing with the trimming of the pillow waiting for his verdict.
"Why would I care if you're happy or not?" he finally said rolling his eye and crossing his arms. You pouted and turned away from him, giving him the side-eye. You knew he had a point but deep down it kinda hurt.
In some weird way, you really cared about the triangle demon baby. To you, he was your friend in a way. He was like Mr. Bear but snarky and annoying, but you still cared for him the same. Sure you never had real friendships but you read enough about them to know, both parties care for each other. You bit your inner cheek, trying to hold back tears. You tried your best to shrug it off but one thing stuck in your mind. 'He's gonna leave then' you let out a sigh as you finally calmed down, 'he said he won't' you argued but you finally came to accept the sad truth, 'he doesnt care, he just wants my body and that stupid book'. As you kept avoiding him, your eyes wandered to the framed photos. 'Always alone' you told yourself, before standing up, causing Bill's attention to shift from the journal to you, again.
You didn't respond to his question, hoping to forget it, and went back to the downstairs bathroom, leaving the door open.
Out of curiosity, Bill followed behind you, asking "Whatcha doing?" in hopes to cut the tension. Once he made it over, he watched as you fixed your hair. Maybe out of boredom or because he knew it would annoy you he began messing with your hair. Causing you to turn around while his fingers were still intertwined together. You let out a small yelp in pain as you stubbled backward, his fingers finally out of your hair.
"What the fuck, Bill?" you yelped out in pain as you rubbed your head.
"I'm helping," he said in an innocent tone, but you could practically feel his smirk. "Your hair is a mess you know?" you rolled your eyes and gave him a small pout. The thought of him leaving still lingered in your mind, which made you feel a bit off while talking to Bill. Every time you began to think of it you started singing a random song, making sure Bill wouldn't be able to hear your thoughts.
"Thanks, Bill," you managed a light chuckle and turned to face the mirror. Once you looked in it you were met with a black and white version of yourself, you were met with a black and white version of everything. You watched as your twin raised their eyebrow in confusion. You quickly looked down at your hand, seeing that they were the same color as before.
"Don't ask me kid thats how the mindscape works," Bill said, causing you to look back up at him in the mirror, just like you he was black and white.
You turned around, met with the annoying yellow triangle, "Mr. I know everything doesn't even know how the mindscape works?" you said in a mocking tone with one of the biggest smirks on your face. You watched as Bill's eye changed from his normal cocky one to a rather disappointed one. "Mr. I know everything: 0, book worm: 2," you said, making a 0 with one of your hands, and with the other, you held up 2 fingers.
"Hey" you hear him began to whine, "Where did you get the 2 from? Shouldn't it be 0 because you know nothing either?"
"Well I know," you began, putting your fingers down and hopping on top of the counter. "You don't know everything," a smile began to form after you said that, only growing once you saw Bill.
"Fine whatever kid," he said, giving up on trying to fight you.
"Don't call me kid," you said crossing your arms over your chest, smiling fading into a pout as your eyebrows frow together. "Hey wait, why are we here?"
"So I can do this," he snapped his fingers and you felt a cold wind brush behind your neck, causing some hairs to stand behind your neck. You closed your eyes in fear of what this demon could do, holding onto yourself tightly. "Looks better than before" you hear Bill say, causing you to slowly open one eye after the other.
Once you opened them you were met with the yellow triangle, of course, but not only that you were met with everything back in color. You felt a bit of relief knowing you were back in your own world.
"Turn around," Bill said, spinning his finger around and around, waiting for you to do as he said. You looked at him a bit skeptical but complied in the end. You slowly looked over your shoulder, while doing so you hopped off the counter, standing on your two feet once again.
"Oh Bill" you barely whispered, as you watched your reflections' eyes began to soften and a smile appear. As you feel your cheeks heat up you watch theirs tint with pink and slowly a trail of tears made its way down the red road. "Thank you" you spun around to face him, a smile plastered on your face.
Bill stood there dumbfounded, sure he hoped you were happy with it but this wasn't the reaction we were expecting. 'Who knew,' Bill thought to himself as he watched you look at yourself in the mirror, admiring every part of your hair, 'putting her hair up into bear ears could make her so happy?'
Bill thought you looked absolutely dumb, with your whole outfit and now hair, you looked like a bear-obsessed freak to him. He knew that you would love the hair, but any other sensible human would think it was dumb. So you wouldn't want to take it off and Ryan would think you were weird. In his perfect little plan, he had figured since Ryan would think you were weird he'd just stop talking to you. To him, it was full proof, a perfect plan made by someone who knew everything.
In some weird why he felt this sort of relief once he saw you smile, maybe in some way he felt guilty for making you almost cry. Sure it was funny to him when you would tear up chopping onions, or when you reread "The Fault In Our Stars" but seeing you tear up that time made him feel some other way.
Happiness, anger, boredom, guilt...
"Like I said last time, I'm not leaving you" he whispered hoping you wouldn't hear 'no matter how much you want, (y/n) '
