The Sister

Chapter Fiveteen: Ray

It's been a week. The only thing Cade and I have done to get close is taking about personal things, and that's as far as we took it. We slept together every night, and the dreams are fading, but he is getting less and less sleep worrying about me. So we decided to send him home yesterday, and last night I didn't have dreams. Today is Saturday, and it's the day my life changed.

Knock, knock!!

"I'll get it grandma!" Finally alone for the weekend, and someone is here? Come on! But when I opened that door I stand in the entry way still as a rock. There was some girl that I didn't know standing there, but she looked really familiar. Same blond hair and hazel eyes as me. The only difference from me is that she was older, taller, didn't wear makeup, and had acne. She looked to be around her twenties. "Hi... Umm...who are you?"

"I think it's best we sit down and talk about this. May I come into my own house please?" She pushed me out of the way, and walked into the kitchen like she owned the place.

"Who do you think you are to-" the mysterious women help up her pointer finger at me.

"Let me stop you right there. I'm Ranessmae." (By the way readers it pronounced ra-nez-may) "Call me Ray, for short. Anyway... when ma was younger she had me. She was only a senior in high school, and she didn't know what to do with me. Ma raised me until I was six, and took me to live with my father, who lived in New York." She paused a moment, and it gave me enough time to think it all through so far, and give her a continue-on-now nod. "I've been living with him for the past eighteen years. Ma said that when it was time I could come back and meet you guys, because she always kept in touch with me. So here I am, only dying to find out why only you are here. Isn't ma always home Saturday's?"

"Well I'm Katelyn, not Lily. Let s just begin with that 'sister' If I would have known you were living or in existence, I would I have told you...the, the umm...news. Mom, Dad, Lily, and Jake died in a car accident almost a month ago now. Sorry to inform you of this so...late," even three weeks later I was still emotional, but I had to stay strong. I can't believe I have a sister, and I never knew about her! This is so cool! What wasn't so cool is when she started breaking down and trembling. Tears rolled down her cheeks, one after the other. It was hard to watch.

"No one told me! I relize you didn't know I existed, but Grandma Annie still knew! This breaks my heart! Where is Annie now anyway?"

Before I could answer grandma came walking down the hallway, came out and said, "I'm right here Ranessmae! I'm right here!" She said while stroking her hair. "how was college darling?"

"Last year I completed my classes. I studied animals if you didn't know. Anyway," wiping tears from her cheeks onto the back of her hand, Ray continued,"I got a job in Florida, working at Sea World. It's fun to teach all the little kids, and adults about animals! That's my life! How about yours?"

"I'm sicker than I was before, but I'm pretty sure I'm getting better. I e been watching Kay here since the wreak, three weeks ago. Kay's got a boyfriend, popular, singer , actor, athletic, and her best friend is July! The neighbor two houses down."

"I babysat her once didn't I? When Jake, Lily,and Katelyn went to sports camp correct?" I loved at camped. Jake and I raced from one end of a lake to the other, and he won. I started complaining that he only won because he was three years older than me.

"Yeah! Your sure did. Well, I'm so proud of you for gettin that job! Have a husband or boyfriend yet?"

"I have a boyfriend, Josh. We've been going out for a couple years now, so we will see where that goes," she glances over to the door that was still open. "Oh! Forgot to mention, I'm going to crash here for several months to catch up with you guys, and all!"
