As soon as Lucifer had left Amenadiel's house, he took out his phone and dialed Chloe's number. She picked up after the second ring.
"Hello, Detective." She heard the voice of her beloved Devil and as usual it sent shivers down her spine.
"Hi, Lucifer. What's up?" She tried to remain calm.
"Well, I was thinking... Would you like to join me for dinner tonight at eight at the penthouse?" He was doing everything he could to sound casual as if it wasn't going to be the most important event in his life.
"Oh..." Chloe hesitated. "I'd love to, I'd really love to but Trixie's here. I won't manage to find a sitter at such short notice on Sunday and I don't want to bother my mom or Dan. I'm so sorry, Lucifer." She apologized.
"Don't worry, my dear. I've got it covered. I've already talked to Dan and everything's arranged." Lucifer said.
"Dan agreed to take Trixie after talking to you?" Chloe asked, finding it hard to believe, still having the unpleasant event with the gun in her memory.
"Yes, she'll stay with him till tomorrow." He replied.
"So... are you two okay, again?" Lucifer knew she wouldn't let it go that easily.
"Well, if you really need to know, we're still friends and it's hard to believe but I'm glad about it." Lucifer chuckled. "Who would have thought that when I first came to Los Angeles, I would find love and friendship here."
"Yeah." Chloe agreed and he could sense she was smiling.
"So, what about the dinner?" He asked, still not quite sure about her answer.
"Of course, I'll join you for dinner, Lucifer." She replied, smile still evident in her voice.
"Splendid. Shall I come for you at 7.30?"
"You don't have to, I'll take my car. Don't worry, I'll be on time." Chloe assured him. "See you later, Lucifer."
"Yeah, until tonight, Detective." He replied and hung up.
Now he had to prepare everything for their meeting so he sped in his car in the direction of Lux.
Chloe was still amazed at how Lucifer had thought about everything. She was happy that he finally talked to Dan and they still get on well despite the fact that the man shot the Devil not many days ago.
Chloe stopped thinking about it and went to Trixie to tell her to pack her things because she was going to stay at her father's until the next day. The girl was ecstatic about it and couldn't wait for it. Soon, Dan appeared at the door.
"Hi, Trixie's almost ready. Come in." Chloe said, letting him inside.
"Thanks. How are you anyway? I noticed something has been bothering you lately." Dan asked, surprising her with his insight.
"You're right. I wasn't myself lately but now I feel better and calmer." She replied and immediately changed the subject. "So, I heard you and Lucifer finally talked."
"Yeah. You know, all those celestial things I experienced – his Devil face, meeting Michael and him tricking me into trying to kill Lucifer and then accidentally running into God himself - are quite difficult to cope with." He sighed. "But as you told me that awful night at the penthouse, despite being the Devil, Lucifer is the same person I've known for the past years, he's still my friend. Although sometimes he doesn't seem to be glad about it."
"Oh, believe me he is." She quickly said, thinking about what Lucifer had just said on the phone.
Their conversation was interrupted by Trixie's sudden appearance.
