July 2018-
I sit side by side with Edmund and Oliver in the police office. My mum and dad were meant to come back from their holiday in Shanghai two days ago, I thought that if I waited they would arrive here but they haven't. The plane they were on is missing. So they are missing.
"We are doing all we can to find the plane, Miss. Williams," the officer says putting down the phone and types onto the computer.
"Try harder," Edmund snaps leaning forward leaning his elbows onto his knees and resting his head in hands.
The officer stands up straight crossing his arms over his huge stomach that looks as if he ate donuts his whole life.
"I'm sorry," his voice as soft as he could make it. "I will contact you if we find something."
"I'm not leaving," Oliver says stomping his foot. "I want mummy and daddy!" He shouts as if he was 3 again. When he is stressed and angry he baby talks but he is 10 and should know better.
"Ollie," I stand up glaring everyone who looks at me. "Let's go, we need sleep."
"I don't wan-" but I put my hand over his mouth stopping.
"Oliver Thomas," I say. "We are going home." He nods stiffly.
Edmund sighs and walks out of the doors and is in the car straight away. My mum used to tell me stories from when she was younger, she had struggled but she held on and made it. We all have so far I hope Oliver can too.
"What if they don't find them?" Oliver asks getting tears and I hug him tight.
"They will," I sooth his hair out.
"But, what if-"
"They will, Oliver," I assure him. "Let's go home."
