Maia didn't know how long she was sitting in the cold room before the door started to clank telling Maia that it was getting ready to open. She steeled her face preparing for the other agent to come back or guards to come to take her away but she was surprised to see Agent Carter walk through the door. She held files in her arm as walked towards the table where Maia was sitting. "Hi, I heard you asked for me." Sharon gently says before pulling out the chair in front of Maia and taking a seat opposite of her. Maia nodded slightly looking at Sharon with a mix of happiness and relief. "The other man told me that Agent Locke and Agent Russell are dead, is that true?" Maia spoke softly, she didn't want to get her hopes up in case he was lying but Sharon nodded and she opened the file.
"Brace yourself but I knew you wouldn't believe it without pictures," Sharon told Maia carefully as she opened the file and slid Maia two pictures, she let out a sigh as she ran her fingers over the dead faces. "It's real, they're gone." Maia sat back in her seat in shock, but that meant Agent Lewis did escape. "Yes, that means that Agent Lewis did escape. Can you tell me anything about where she might have gone?" Sharon asked gently, Maia pressed her lips together as she thought about everything she knew about Agent Lewis said or might've been spilled around her. "I thought she has an uncle or something in Long Island, I don't know where but she might be there. Can I ask you something?" Sharon looks at Maia surprised but nods so Maia takes a deep breath and goes ahead. "Do you think that I will have a chance to get out of here?" Maia knew it was a long shot but she was tired of being questioned all the time, she wanted freedom now that she could have access to it.
Sharon sighed before putting her hands on her lap leaning back into her chair. "Well, If you want freedom I can suggest a house arrest type thing. The only thing is that you don't have anywhere to stay so I'm not sure how much S.H.I.E.L.D would go for it but I will try my hardest because I know that you don't want to be locked up anymore." Instead of responding Maia gave her a grateful nod. "Now, I need to ask you something. You told me you lied to HYDRA when you said that the Winter Solider-" Maia opened her mouth and interjected. "He likes to be called Bucky." Maia looked down pressing her lips together afraid that Sharon would be mad at her but was surprised when she smiled. "Right, I'm sorry when Bucky escaped from you. Can you tell me why you did that?"
She looked down at her fingers, one of the first things Sharon did when she walked in while she was talking was unlock Maia's handcuff which Maia was grateful for because now she could stretch her fingers and move around her wrist. "I did it because I could tell he didn't want to be the asset anymore, I could tell that he wanted to move on and have a normal life so I gave him the chance. He was surprised but he took it, I don't know where he is now if that's what you're wondering." Sharon shook her head quickly. "We know, I know. S.H.I.E.L.D just wanted to know the reason why you let him go because you didn't have to. I read in the file that is said to lie to you about you being followed, was that a concern?" Maia nodded slowly before she started to speak.
"I'm sure by now you know my abilities so it's hard for me to be snuck up but it's happened and I've kept watch and believed them that they had someone following me but when I was watching to see if someone followed me I couldn't see anyone so even though I knew it was risky I took a chance which is how I found out the truth." While Maia was talking Sharon was writing notes in her file but she angled them away so Maia couldn't see what was being written. "Right, it says here that you were told that Dr. Cobbs is on the premise. He's been very helpful like you but I wanted to ask you, how did he treat you?" Maia looked at Sharon in surprise who gave her a sweet smile like she noticed the surprise on her face.
"Better than most, he didn't treat me like a human but he didn't treat me like an animal either. He wasn't sweet by no means but it was better than the Agents." Sharon nodded like she knew what Maia was talking about, she suddenly slide the chair back and stood up quickly before shutting the file closed. "Would you like to talk to him?" Sharon asked softly that the normal ear wouldn't be able to hear but Maia heard clear as day. "What?" Maia looked at Sharon in shock who just nodded. "Yes, yesterday Doctor Cobbs requested to speak to you once he learned that you were in the building. You don't have to of course but it would be helpful towards your file if you were seen as cooperative."
She gulped before standing up like Sharon, she placed her hands on the table and looked at them carefully. "What would I have to do? Wear a wire or an earwig so you can hear?" Maia was familiar with those two things because HYDRA had her wear them a few times. Sharon chuckled slightly before she lifted her hand to try to hide her laugh. "No, we can see you through the cameras. If you want out you just have to look at the camera behind you, I'll show you when we take you in there. If you're up for it." She thought it over in her head before hesitantly nodding, she didn't know what she agreed to but maybe it would help get her released.
