Today the twins, Marta and Maaria decided that they would be the ones to show Maia, Sharon, and Theo around. The twins took them to all the places that they liked to go and Maia could just stare looking at the buildings in wonder. She was aware every time she moved her leg that she had her monitor on but she tried to not let it bother her and focus on the fact that when she gets back home she won't have to wear it anymore. Maia was lucky because she expected to get questions about it but they haven't said anything, she's caught a few of her cousins glancing at it with curious looks but they don't say anything even though Maia wouldn't blame them if they did.
She has found herself thinking a lot about her parents this trip, which makes sense since she's visiting her Dad's family but it makes her sad. Maia is now the same age that her Mom, Elena was when she died. She didn't realize how much she was avoiding thinking that until it was all she could think about. Maia blinked slowly as she squeezed Sharon's hand that she was holding, she was trying to make herself get out of her head so she could spend time with her cousins. "I love you." Maia suddenly said turning her head towards Sharon, she raised her eyebrow slightly but smiled widely.
"I love you too, are you having fun?" Sharon bumps her shoulder against Maia who nods before turning her head towards her cousins from where they were talking animatedly with Theo by a fountain. "I am, it's just so surreal that I get to meet them and I finally have family, besides you of course." Maia was hesitant about calling Sharon's family but she could tell it was the right choice with the beaming smile that Sharon sent her back for her comment. "I know what you mean, especially in the case of being told that you were alone. You found a whole new community of your life that you had no idea about, that's huge." Maia was going to respond when she froze.
She could hear familiar footsteps walking towards her. "Grab the kids," Maia instructs Sharon sharply. She looks at Maia confused but she starts to walk towards where Theo and the twins were standing, Maia watches as Sharon leans over to whisper something in Theo's ear but Maia doesn't hear it because she's trying to focus on one particular voice. "Boo." A voice whispered.
Maia's breath hitches as she catches Dana's eye, Dana winks at her before she grabs a civilian and puts a gun to her head. "Maia, Maia. Don't you know you can't escape?" Dana smirks at Maia which sends a shiver down her spine. "Let her go." Maia pleads with Dana, she can hear the footsteps of Theo behind her and the click of her cocking her gun. "Put your hands up Lewis!" Theo yells out, Maia can hear everyone's heartbeat, everyone's is racing except for Dana's.
She's completely calm, Maia's forgotten how scary Dana can be. "You want me right?" Dana's eyebrow raises in curiosity but she doesn't respond. "Then take me, just let the woman go." Maia lets out a slow breath as she locks eyes with Dana. She can almost see the gears turning in Dana's head. "Not a chance," Dana smirks as she gestures her head towards Sharon and Theo who both had their guns trained on Dana, Maia was going to tell them to stand down when she watched as they started to lower their guns by themselves.
Maia's eyebrows raised in shock as she turned her quickly back to where Dana was standing or should've been. The agent was gone, they missed their chance but Maia has a feeling that this isn't the last time Dana will be seen in Columbia. "Are you okay?" Sharon runs towards Maia, Maia is frozen as she looks at the spot that Dana was just at. "I don't know." Maia's voice cracked, she wrapped her arms around herself as she watched Theo look around trying to find a trace of Dana. "Can you sense her? Footsteps? Voice?" Sharon asks softly rubbing Maia on the shoulder, Maia licks her lips as she shakes her head.
"I can't, are the twins okay?" Maia lets out a slow breath as she rubs her arms with her finger. "Yes, they're fine. They texted Sergio and he's coming to pick them up." Maia sighs and puts her hand over her face rubbing furiously, she can feel her eyes welling with tears but she doesn't allow them to drop.
Sharon sighs as she slowly grabs Maia's forearm and starts to pull her towards her to wrap her in a hug. Maia lets out a shaky breath as she rests her head on Sharon's shoulder, she closes her eyes tightly to try not to let tears leak out. She doesn't want to cry but she was close, she was racking her brain going through the things that could've gone wrong. One of those things includes Marta and Maaria could've been hurt, or worse and if that happened, Maia would've never forgive herself. She would've lost the remaining family she has and Maia wouldn't blame them one bit.
"We have to find her, she was too close. She could've hurt the twins, or you. I can't deal with that if something happened, we got lucky but our luck might be running out." Maia smacked her lips and took a step back from Sharon running a hand through her hair, Sharon looked like she wanted to say something but she just pressed her lips together and nodded. "Come on, we have to talk to the police. I think Theo is going to call S.H.I.E.L.D so they can take jurisdiction." Sharon said as she led Maia toward where her cousins were.
Maia just nodded instead of responding, she wasn't leaving without finding Dana. It was the only way she could be free and happy with Sharon, something she wanted more than anything in the world.
