Once prosperous in its founding days, the city soon found itself to be the hotspot for crime and other illegal activities to harbor in. It was bustling as usual as the Gotham residences walked, ran, cursed at one another over small inconveniences. There was no day that Gotham would be still; there always had to be some crime, rather it be minor or serious.

Out in seclusion, sitting on a rocky cliff, sat the Wayne Manor. Waves crashed ever so gently on the shores below, the fizz of the waves bubbling on the rocks before dispersing. Below the manor lied an underground labyrinth of stalactites that weaved here and there before finally leading to the Batcave. Inside, Batman sat at his monitor as usual, typing away and looking through information. Alfred had just left a few minutes ago after bringing a cup of tea for him, but he had it shoved to the side. He was not in the mood for tea. Instead, he worked and worked and worked.

Suddenly, a beeping goes off in the cave, and Batman angles his ears. Someone was calling him. He pressed the button to accept the call on his keyboard. His screen revealed a brown furred wolf underwater with graying hairs, a gray mustache and a bitten left ear. The wolf answered:

"Batman, it's me. Oddeth."

"What is it?"

"The coup against Atlantis. It's happened, and it succeeded."

Batman flicked his ears.

"The Royal Family are all alright, they are with me; however, the princess is in a deep state of shock and needs medical help. Can you relay this message to the Justice League and tell them we are going to need their help and fast?"

As usual, Batman was silent. He was taking in the information. He then finally replied while typing: "Where will you be approaching from?"

"Superman. The situation's gotten worse."

Within the Watchtower, Goldwath lifted up his head from whatever he was doing upon the familiar sound of Batman echoing throughout the tower. Everyone in the League congregated to the 2nd floor where Superman was. With Hawkgirl's assistance, Goldwath joined them and hobbled in his spot; in front of them, the screen had lit up to show Batman himself in his residence. He was deadpan, completely void of expression, but his tone had indicated something serious.

"The Atlantis one?" Superman asked for confirmation.

"Yes."

Goldwath's heart sank upon the response. What? What Atlantis situation?? ...Lazuli!! His eyes were immediately wide as adrenaline rushed; he squeezed his way towards Superman's side, ignoring Green Lantern's "Hey, watch it!" directed at him.

"The coup had been a success," Batman continued, "and they dethroned the Royalty."

"Is Lazuli okay, do you know!?" Goldwath blurted out, feeling everyone's gaze burning in his fur. He ignored them and continued to stare directly at Batman, his heart racing out of control.

Batman remained unfazed and expressionless as usual. "Yes." The simple answer was enough to slightly calm him down, though it didn't help that Batman never showed any emotion. "Everyone is all okay. But they're going to need our help."

"Ultramine asking for help?" Green Lantern asked with a mock in his voice.

"It's certainly strange for him to resort to us now," Superman said, "but it is the best we can do."

"I'm sending over the coordinates to you on their location. Batman out."

Once the call ended, and the screen lit up the map of where the location was (Manhattan Beach in New York), Goldwath lowered his head to process what was happening. Something had happened in the Kingdom and Lazuli was hurt, something he could have prevented if he was there for her. But he had to keep his hopes up; all he could do now was ensure her safety. He turned to the others, darting his eyes at them.

"Let's go," he declared.

The world was dark. The ocean was cold.

She couldn't feel her body or any of its aches and pains. Lazuli couldn't feel her unborn children. Panic began to seep back in as the only feeling she could feel. Where they really okay? She had taken a lot of force; she felt her drowsy eyes peep, but it was still dark. She tried to raise a paw to her face only for the current to push against her limp arm. The ocean currents breezed against her fur.

Where was she? Why couldn't she see anything? She jerked, her muscles aching.

Someone grabbed ahold of her, carrying her gently. Who was that? Her dad? Her mom? The touch didn't feel familiar in the ocean.

She let out a weak groan.

The.....Atlantis! The coup- My...my babies! Our babies! Are they okay?? Lazuli began to think as all memory flooded back. Oh please let them be okay! Goldwath...

Gold...?

She fell back unconscious, the ocean pulsating in her ears.
