Chapter 2 - All Eyes on You

Within the shadows of the alleyway, a pair of white eyes glowed, watching from afar of the two Thanagarians that had collided with one another. It watched as the two conversed with one another, like a predator in hiding watching its prey with intent. The eyes gave off the expression of surprise as it saw the two ease up between one another before narrowing and closing, fading away.

In a worn and rundown warehouse inside a junkyard, two wolves were standing guard at the entrance, a light silver-furred male and a light pink-furred female. They looked around the vicinity carefully for any signs of trespassers or law officials. Piles of scrapped metal and cars stacked the junkyard, not a pleasant sight. The sunlight didn't reflect well with some of the metal that hadn't began to rust, which made the pink-furred wolf squint her eyes from the blinding light.

"Why couldn't Dazzling Hawk have found a better hideout for us?" the pink-furred female complained, twitching her nose. "It's just uncomfortable and blegh! I'd prefer an underground base full of spider webs and rats for us than a place full of trash!"

"It's the best he could find, Candycane," the silver-furred male said. "Plus, who would even investigate an already abandoned junkyard? It's pointless to police but valuable to us."

"Whatever you say, Silverclaw." Candycane sniffed. "Where is Nightshadow? He should be back by now."

Silverclaw shrugged.

As if on cue, one of the piles rustled, alarming the two. A pitch black-furred wolf emerged from the rubble, his pure white eyes wide and unblinking as he gave a smile. Candycane gave a shiver and the two finally ran up to him.

"About time you made it back, Dazzling Hawk would be more infuriated if you came a minute later!" Candycane said.

The black-furred wolf, Nightshadow, squinted one eye and widened the other. "Well it's not my fault he can't be patient," he spoke in a very soft and deep voice, almost hypnotic. "Anyway...I got some information he will be most pleased to hear."

"Well, why are we standing around like a pair of dazed deer? Let's go!" Silverclaw said.

"And fast, Dazzling Hawk's already pacing around."

"What is taking so long!?"

"Sir, please calm down- Excessive anger isn't good for your body-"

"I don't care! My body's been worn down many times over, nothing a little anger can do that will kill me."

"Dazzling Hawk, he'ssssssss here."

Dazzling Hawk, also a Thanagarian wolf, lifted up his ears. "Finally. Bring them in, Scarlet Snake."

Scarlet Snake, the Ophidian, lowered his head, tongue flicking out. "Asssssss you wish, Sssssssir~"

Candycane, Silverclaw and Nightshadow enter. They bow to the Thanagarian and the Amazonian wolf next to him before being ordered to lift their heads back up again. He stepped forward to the pitch black-furred wolf. 

"So what news do you come bringing for me?" he asked.

Nightshadow narrowed his eyes. "Goldwath just caused chaos in the city today.....he was out of his mind...completely full of rage and hungry for action...It worked, sir....Your plan is slowly working...it's infecting his mind..."

Dazzling Hawk's eyes widened underneath his mask. "So it has?"

He nodded.

"This is the best news yet! Sooner or later, that wretched pest will finally be mine to deal with once and for all!" the Thanagarian said, scarred wings shuddering in excitement.

"There's more, Sir...that I think you'd fancy to hear..."

Dazzling Hawk lifted up an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"The Justice League....Sir..."

Even though it was already silent, it dragged out more as everyone turned their heads in attention at the mention of the League. Everyone leaned their heads closer, curiosity in their eyes. 

"The Justice League?" the Amazonian said in an intrigued way.

An Atlantean in his water domain--that the Amazonian had pushed towards the group--swam up and popped his head out to the surface, eyes shrinking. "I remember the Justice League when they visited Atlantis to help Aquaman stop Lord Orm......"

"So what about the Justice League?" Dazzling Hawk asked.

"One of their members seemed to show an interest for him....And she's also a Thanagarian as well..."

"Another Thanagarian?"

Nightshadow nodded. 

"What's her name?"

"She calls herself Hawkgirl....And from closed doors, I can see the two have something...This could be most useful to us in bringing down both the League and Goldwath..."

Dazzling Hawk pondered a bit and widened his mouth to a smirk. "Most excellent news indeed." He began to chuckle, which turned into full blown laughter.

I will come for my revenge soon, Goldwath. Hope the Justice League is prepared, cause you will be the reason for their downfall by the paws of the Zealot Rebels!
