Chapter Eighteen

"Sir Kier." agad na bati ko nang makilala ang lalaking sinalubong ni Trisha. I am not expecting to see him here.

Bakas din ang pagkabigla sa mukha nito nang makita ako. A few moments passed and he cleared his throat.

"Leigh, you're here." he said, acknowledging my presence. He stared at me for a while which made me conscious. We haven't talked before at work, unless may ipag uutos siya or ibibilin. He's not approachable and he's always wearing his strict face. So now I am not sure how to talk to him normally.

I felt Devon held my right hand at agad akong napatingin sa kanya. He's frowning at Sir Kier.

Is he in a bad mood? Anyway, his frowning face really resembled Damon.

"Tito Kier! meet Devon. He's my new friend." pakilala ni Trisha. "And she's Devon's Mommy. Do you know her po?" inosenteng tanong ni Trisha kay sir Kier.

Sir Kier looked at her and nodded.

"Yeah," he answered. His gaze shifted to my direction. "You resigned already"

It's not a question but a statement. I only told sir Cedric and ma'am Karina at the last minute that I'm going to leave from work. Turns out sir Cedric was aware that Damon is asking me to be Devon's babysitter.

I smiled. "Yeah, may nangyari kasi kaya kailangan ko mag immediate resignation."

I wasn't able to properly say goodbye to them. Anna and Mikaela were probably complaining about me. I'll make it up to them, pag nakabalik na ako ng Batangas.

"To take care of sir Devon?" he asked and looked at Devon. Sinundan ko naman ang tingin niya and I saw Devon glaring at sir Kier, then he hid behind my back.

"Devon, greet tito Kier." I said and urged Devon. He seemed hesitant at first but he still greeted sir Kier politely.

"Ikaw sir? What are you doing here? Are you on your day-off?" I asked.

"Don't call me sir, I am not your superior anymore. And nope, I also resigned"

Napamaang ako sa narinig "W-why?"

"My dad wants me to manage our business. So he asked me to go back to Manila. I've been fooling around in Batangas for quite some time and my Dad found out about it." He said. Natawa ako ng mahina.

"So you ran away from home and now your Father found you?" I realized, we have the same situation.

"Yeah."

"Is Trisha your niece?"

"She's my brother's daughter. I was tasked to fetch her after school."

I looked at Trisha, I didn't notice that she's wearing a school uniform.

"Is it okay to leave her alone here? I mean, isn't it quite dangerous nowadays?" I was concerned that Trisha was left here playing in the park. One look and you'll be able to tell that she came from a rich family. Although this park is near the school grounds, it's still not totally safe.

Kier looked at me in amusement. Did I say something wrong? "Don't worry, Trisha has a secret bodyguard. Did you not know that Devon has one too?"

Napalingon ako sa paligid pero wala naman akong makitang kakaiba.

"Devon, do you have a bodyguard?"

Devon looked at me innocently. "Yes mommy. But he's staying at a certain distance."

I was stunned. I didn't notice after all. So, this is how kids from rich families are being protected nowadays.

"How did you know?" I asked Kier.
