Whole Night

The following weekend, I headed to Savannah's house, where the girls and I met up. There are only about two more weeks until prom night, so we plan on heading up north to shop for dresses. Erin was supposed to drive, but Van offered to take us all in her car. Presently, Van now has a boyfriend, a Christian boy from church. Erin just recently got herself a date to prom, and Kris is just your average single-winger. When I got to the house, the girls were ecstatic, especially after telling them the good news that I have a new boyfriend.

"I'm so excited; when are you going to introduce us to him?" asked Erin.

"Well, I already know who Tylor is, and he knows me," said Savannah.

"I mean, I have only been at this school for a few months, so I would like to be introduced to him," said Kris.

"Don't worry, don't worry, I will introduce him to you before prom," I said.

"Girl, when before prom? It's in two weeks," Erin said.

"Yeah, for real," said Kris.

"Well, we can all go on an outing together next week," I said.

"Like, a double date?" asked Savannah.

"Well, I mean, it's not really a double date if all four of us are showing up," Kris said.

"I'm down for it," said Erin.

"Okay, I will talk to Ty about it," I said.

We all got into the car; I sat in the front with Savannah while Kris and Erin sat in the back. We turned on some tunes to listen to, and the girls jammed out on the way there. After about 30 minutes into the drive, I received a text from Tylor.

"Hey, Hun, can you please attend service with me tomorrow?" he asked.

"Service? Like, Church service?" I asked him when I replied.

"Yes, church service tomorrow at 9:00 AM," Tylor responded.

"Um, maybe," I answered.

"C'mon, bae, just come for one time," Tylor wrote.

I read the message and looked over at Savannah. She quickly turned to look at me and turned back.

"What's wrong, Ash?" Savannah asked.

"Nothing, Tylor is just pressuring me to go to church with him tomorrow," I said.

"Why don't you go?" Erin asked.

"Yeah, why not," asked Kris.

"I don't know, guys; I just feel uncomfortable in the church," I said.

"What? Why? The church is like...a calming place to be, for me at least," Savannah said to me.

"Yeah, that's your boyfriend, Ash. You should just go for one day," Kris said.

"I don't know, guys," I said.

"Just do it, Ash. It's just an hour or two of your time. Just go for at least one day; that is your boyfriend, after all," Erin said.

"Exactly," said Savannah.

I stopped and thought to myself for a few seconds. I didn't know what to do; I felt undecided. When we finally arrived at the store that Kris was telling us about, I got outside the car and walked away from it.

"Ash, where are you going?" yelled Savannah.

"Ashera!" yelled Erin.

Van ran over to me and stopped me.
