"I know this looks like a gigantic house for just four people.. but Rohan's cousins and uncles and aunts keep visiting every alternative month..." Alka was saying as she lead Priya along the long corridor of the first floor.

Priya smiled and nodded - this Mansion looked more like a large den with these n number of rooms... but it didn't matter to her - it's not like she would be living here anyway?

It took Priya a couple of seconds to realise that of course she'd be living here in this place because she'd be freaking marrying Rohan!!

The thought of living in this huge mansion, and the prospect of marrying Rohan soon sent jitters through her body - she felt more nervous about living in this place more than anything else!

But then peeking to her side - towards the stern old woman walking silently along with them, Priya pouted - Rohan's dadi hadn't spoken to her at all! The old woman had been Curt with her replies - whatever small talk that Priya had managed to do that is!

"...mummyji and I have tea or milk after dinner here in this garden every night before bed... I hope to continue that tradition with you too.." Alka was beaming at Priya, indicating the lawn chairs out on the garden - visible through the large fortified glass wall of the corridor.

Priya blushed yet again. It was heartening to see Rohan's mother so taken with her!!

"You must think I'm crazy... I've been blabbering on from the time we met..." Alka apologised.

But Priya shook her head.

"You're making me feel more at home ma'am... mom.." Priya bit her lip.

Alka's eyes brimmed with tears and she smiled sadly.

"Rohan's papa wanted a girl... we tried thrice after Rohan... all girls... all miscarriages... by my third miscarriage, doctor had told me that I couldn't bear another child.. my body is unfit..." Alka sniffled, her tears slipping from the corners of her eyes.

"I'm your daughter too.." Priya smiled at Alka, her heart heavy at how sad Alka looked.

Alka chuckled at this and wiped her tears.

"I know! Rohan's papa always tells me that it's good we don't have our own daughter.. uss ko byah kar k vida karna padta! Ab hummari kismat Dekho!! Enna Sona kudi mili hummare Rohan ko?" Alka smiled, her eyes turning glassy again as she cupped Priya's face.

{Translation - it's good that we don't have our own daughter, else we'd have to marry her off by now! But look at our luck that we got such a good girl for our Rohan.. just like our daughter!}

Touched by these words, and not knowing how to best express her feelings, Priya hugged Alka.

She hadn't expected anybody from Rohan's family to accept their relationship - to accept her! But his family hadn't just accepted her, they consider her their daughter! Moreover, Alka's love as a mother meant more than anything else to Priya!

"I have a daughter for life!" Alka sniffled and chuckled too as she hugged Priya.

Standing a little away from them, Rajshree twisted her mouth - couldn't Priya hug her too? She's literally standing two feet away from them! Even she had wanted another grand daughter after Rashmi! But Priya had eyes only for Alka!

"Thank you for coming into Rohan's lives... Into our lives... We have never seen our son so happy.. ever! And you...you've fulfilled our wish of having a daughter!" Alka smiled as she let go off of Priya.

Priya smiled, her eyes now slowly brimming with tears.

"I.. I never thought... I always wanted my in-laws to be like my parents... Never thought that wish would come true!" Priya managed to say finally.
