Tapping his fingers on the table nervously, the tall man sitting beside the window looked out, sipping on his coffee, waiting.
It was just half past seven in the morning, and the cafe was already bustling with people.
But he didn't care for the people, for he only cared about that one person who could light up his life, like how the sun lights up the world.
He was running high on caffeine, this being his fifth cup of coffee already, but he didn't care. He would talk to her today... He had to talk to her today!
And at that precise moment, a cab came around from the corner, to stop right in front of the building, and the tall man at the cafe froze.
Hardly anybody batted an eye about the cab, but the man at the cafe held his breath, as a girl stepped out of the car, and he heaved a sigh of relief.
She was dressed in a pretty pink saree this morning, her hair curled and set loose, and her smile... Her smile so infectious, that the man at the cafe couldn't help smile!
Resting the side of his head on his knuckles, he watched as she smiled at the cab driver and turned, straightening herself, before she walked in, smiling at the familiar faces.
And just like her name, Diya had indeed lightened up his day, his life as well!
Nikhil watched as she walked right in front of the cafe, beaming to herself, before she walked into that building.
He looked down at his almost empty cup of coffee, and drained it.
Diya smiled at the familiar faces as she stood at the reception of the building, waiting for an elevator.
She had an exceptionally busy day ahead, and she was already a little late. It was a Monday morning and a long week awaited her. Oh how she wanted to go back and sleep?
But Priya needed her today, specially because on of her patients had a 3 year old child who would be coming in today. Whilst Priya dealt with the child's parents, Diya would spend time with the child.
"That's a very pretty saree!!" Ritika squealed as she made her way towards Diya. Though she didn't work with her, Ritika was a pediatrician whose office was in the same building.
"Thank you... My best friend's gift" Diya grinned as she walked into the elevator that just pinged open at the ground floor.
"You are a lucky girl! Wish my boss was also a good friend of mine"
Ritika twisted her mouth unpleasantly.Diya smiled at her as she pressed the button to her floor, but didn't say anything else. Priya was her friend first and boss later. Even Priya had never treated Diya any less than a friend! In fact, everyone at her office were more like friends and less like colleagues!
Besides, Diya wasn't here for the money. She was here for the job satisfaction, and she had never felt any better anywhere else! She was Priya's busines partner here, but hardly anybody knew about it - and she liked the matter to be a secret.
The moment the elevator pinged halt at her floor, Diya walked out, feeling a hint of excitement in her guts. She didn't know why, but she felt a different kind of excitement today!
Bidding bye to Rithika who worked at the office at the other end on the same floor, Diya made her way towards her office.
Ratan, their office watchman, and Niru, their office helper, were already there when Diya walked into the office, and greeting both of them, Diya walked to her desk at the reception, and settled down.
She brought her desktop to life to check any important mails for any of the doctors in the office that day, and after 10 minutes, decided to go get herself a cup of coffee.
