Chapter 16: Casualties

Jihoon's POV:

Today was the release of Haruto's article. I decided to wake up early to check on Junkyu. I called his manager for his schedule. He said Junkyu called in sick since Saturday and he didn't have any schedule until tomorrow.

So I barged right in to his house. Nobody's answering the door so I decided to just welcome myself in. The house seems untouched for several days. Where the hell is Kim Junkyu? I checked his room, none. His kitchen still has a lot of unwashed dishes.

I decided to dial Hyunsuk's number.

After several rings:

Hyunsuk: Yoboseyo?

Me: I'm in Junkyu's house. He's not here. Do you happen to know where he is?

Hyunsuk: Ani. Maybe he's with his family. Just don't disturb him for now. He knows about the meeting. Haruto called him last Friday night.

Me; Bwoh!! How? What did he say. Is that why he's gone MIA?

Of course I panicked. Who wouldn't.

Me: how's did you know? Never mind. I'm coming over there-

Hyunsuk: Don't! A-ah, I-i mean, ah, I'm about to head out too. Let's just meet at the Cafe, yes, at our usual place for breakfast huh?

Me: oh, Ok.

Something's fishy with these 2 idiots. I can smell it even from here. We usually can barge anytime to each other's houses. Of course except their bedrooms. That's how close we all are.

I have this nudging feeling that Hyunsuk and Junkyu are keeping something from us. Whatever that is, it must be related to that confrontation we had almost 2 weeks ago. This is what I fear the most. When one started having secrets, conflicts will start to arise. Then the whole group will slowly crumble.

I just hope my fears are unfounded. 

Hyunsuk's POV:

        Fuck, it almost slipped my mind. Jihoon can easily barged here unannounced. Good thing he called first. i was to focus on his issue on the missing Koala that i forgot  I am not alone now. 

      "Mmmmm, babe, who's that?" Yes, unfortunately, someone is in my bed right now.

     "I's Jihoon. He was about to come here. Good thing I stopped him right on time." I was up on my feet and heading for the showers now. I need to rush, in case Jihoon will suspect i was lying earlier. 

         "Where are you going? Isn't it too early? I thought you said you're free today?" I do feel guilty for not keeping my word today. But talking to Jihoon and the boys is my main priority right now. If not, I can't keep  Junkyu's set up a secret anymore.

"I'm really sorry, babe. I'll make it up to you later, hm? I'll call you as soon as I finished this important meeting with the group. It's kind of emergency with our Chairman. Ok?" I hope everything will go smoothly later. Good thing Junghwan and Dobby are already in Korea.

"Promise?" She's giving me her puppy eyes and cute pouty lips. I used to be so weak to resist that, but due to the urgency of our issue, it's not enough to keep me from leaving. Not now with Jihoon waiting for me at the Cafe.

"You can stay here if you want. There's a lot you can do. Watch TV, play video games. Just order food and let the concierge downstairs to bring it here. They know the protocol of the residents here. Privacy is top priority.

After a few minutes of coaxing her, I quickly showered. The quickest time in my whole life.

Good thing that the Cafe was nearer my house than Junkyu's. I wasn't that late. As soon as I enter the coffee shop, I spotted Jihoon sitting on our usual corner, fully disguised. I dressed down a bit so I won't attract unnecessary attention.
