Watching

What I’d assumed when the red magic attacked me was incorrect. Because, Shicmuon did in fact not attack Rood. Instead, he’d aimed his magic at the Tower’s Magicians. I wanted to question him, but I knew better than to interfere.

Rood gaped, shocked at what had happened before his eyes. I watched as he turned to Shicmuon. “…Hey? Hello?” Shicmuon only spared him a glance before one of the Tower’s Magicians began to shout.

“What’s the meaning of this, Shicmuon?”

Shicmuon only narrowed his red eyes. “Get out of my way,” he growled, “all of you.”

The Tower’s Magicians were silent for a moment. “Are you crazy? Instead of helping us, your allies, you attack us!”

“Allies?” I dug my nails into my skin as Shicmuon spoke. “And just why is it that you’re my allies? I have no need for you, for them.”

“Do you have any idea what kind of situation we’re in? We’re responder to a second grade danger situation! I am going to report this to the Lord and you shall face the consequences of your actions here!”

“Fine.” Shicmuon shrugged, then smiled. “But that Is only if you can live to tell the events.” The magician only gritted his teeth in frustration.

Celestial and I quietly watched as Rood opened his mouth to speak. “Wait! I don’t think we should be fighting right now…”

“Is this a declaration of war with the Tower? Shicmuon, you and that man of the Lanoste are insane. To believe that he would send someone like you, even if you’re a first rank!”

            “Are those your last words?”

“I won’t listen to anymore insults!” The Magician blazed with green magic.

“Fine by me,” Shicmuon said, still smiling. His red magic danced around him. I noticed the insecure, uneasy expression on Rood’s face. I blinked, feeling hesitant. Was Rood able to awaken yet? What, exactly, was keeping him chained?

The magicians ran towards each other, flaring with magic. Those behind them could only gape with shock and perhaps, if I guessed correctly, fear. Then, Rood ran up, extending his arms. His black magic erupted, stopping the two. He shouted, “Stop it, idiots!” Shock was written on Shicmuon’s face.

            Is he free? No. Almost.

“You’re quite hesitant on acting,” the voice murmured from my necklace. “Should you fail in future goals, I’ll only laugh. You are… Pathetic. Pathetic. Pathetic. Ah, you’re unlike any mortal I’ve met in my life… Interesting, is it not?”

I glared. “I demand answers from you.”

“And perhaps you’ll receive them,” the voice replied back. “Later.”

“You’re not pleasing,” I murmured to the voice.

“It’s not like you are. Tell me, mortal girl, what is it you seek? Why are you here? Questions will always swirl around you. You are not free. Never was. Perhaps, if I am right, you never will be. And isn’t that a shame? You are encaged. Trapped.
