I don't know how but in two seconds, I was at the hospital's doors, rushing in. "In which room is (Y/N) (Y/L/N)?", she searched the name and looked  up screaming the number as I ran to the elevator.

345; I opened the door, taking in a breath when I saw her laid on the bed. I sat down next to her and grabbed her right hand in mine. She didn't react, her eyes stayed close and she didn't flinch. The silence was deafening and was only interrupted by the beeping of the machine set to her left.

Her skin was pale and her lips were dried. I noticed the bags under her eyes and couldn't contain how angry I was to myself. How could I not noticed?

Two hours later, the door opened to let in JB and Kie. I didn't turn around knowing exactly who was coming in by the rushed stepped I heard in the hallway. "Man, how is she doing?", I turned to him, revealing my now puffy eyes. I let my anxiety took the better out of me and a quiet sob escaped my mouth.

"Hey, did you listened to her voice message?", I frowned, taking my phone out while brushing the sleep out of my eyes. "We're going home to sleep. You should do the same, dude.", I looked up to Kie who was quietly closing the door waving at me.

I sighed loudly, looking through my unread messages before seeing her name pop. "Hey buds, I'm on my way to my shift at the Wreck so I'll be quick. I'm sorry but I won't go with you to the Kook party tonight, I have to clean the house because the social worker is visiting this Friday and we're like Wednesday or Thursday. Could you ask JB to take five minutes to feed the chickens and also pick up all the trash and empty bottle of beers in the garden. Just really quick so I don't have to do it. And could you mow the garden for me? Pretty please, I won't have time to do that. I paid the bills for the problem we had with the HMS Pogues, now I just need a JB signature. I have to clean the all house tonight and I'll mop the floor tomorrow. Oh, and my mother wants to have a talk with us for the adoption. I can't join your stupid father so I'll just do the paperwork for him tomorrow at work. He's still not allowed to see you, so if you have any suspiction call me and I'll find a way to pick you up. OK, I think I'm done, sorry for the homework kiddo but I really don't have time to do that. Oh, I'll cook spaghetti for tomorrow, I know it's your favorite. It's your reward. OK, then bye! See you, I love you!"

I paused for a few minutes, and finally looked up. "You should have rest. Stop running everywhere like you did all your life. You-You have to wake up! Like now, because it's killing me to see you practically dead because of us.", I rested my face on her right hand and felt my eyes heavy and myself drifting to sleep.

I remembered all the day she spent packing snacks and cooking diner. All the afternoon she spent at the local supermarket and all the time we would stopped to the Wreck to talk during her break. The mass of paperwork she had to do every morning when came back from work and she still cleaned the house and helped us with any problems we had.

She was the one that stepped up against my father. She asked her mother to adopt me, she signed and booked all the paperwork for the restraining order. She did everything in her power to help us, her childhood friends that were just an heavy burden to her capacity. It made my two times a month mowing ridiculous to the amount of work and personal investment she was putting effort in for us. For me.

I felt my heart broke with guilt finally punching me in the face.

I suddenly felt fingers squeezing my hands and stood up totally lost. The reality woke me up in seconds, and I looked down at her perfect (e/c) eyes. "Hey there handsome. How are you doing?", her smile made my eyes tear up. "How can you laugh it out? You nearly died because of us?", she chuckled seeing my red cheeks and puffy eyes. She opened her arms to which I responded, diving in her embrace.

The doctor walked in several hours later to examine her and I was watching his every movements. "Okay, you are safe now, young lady. But your body is obviously exhausted. You overworked yourself to a concerning extreme. How many lunch did you have the day you fainted?", I turned to her seeing as she was concentrating to remember every details of her lunch. "I think I forgot to pack myself something to eat in the morning sir. Because I can't remember eating something.", he nodded. "Exactly. There was nothing in your stomach so we assumed you didn't eat anything for the past 2 days if not more. You're discharged for now but you are not allowed to work for a month and I hope someone else could take charge of your usual activities and home duties. You need to rest and regain shape."

That was pretty straight forwards, I couldn't think about anything else than his words. "You didn't eat anything for 2 entire days. But you cooked us lasgna yesterday.", she sighed and I understood she wasn't really in the mood to be questioned about the little speech we witnessed.

"Listen, I forgot to eat. I had an interview in the afternoon. It was stressful.", I nodded grabbing her hand as we walked in the chateau. Everything was going back to normal but we had to make drastic changement.

"Kie and Pope will take care of the house work, cleaning, doing the dishes and cooking, -", "But I love cooking and organizing.", she pouted clearly not please with our new arrangement. "Don't even think about it, and JB and I will take care of the outside and the car and boat. Your mother will take care of the paperwork and you'll just have to go to work as usual but no extra-shift. Pope said he'll work with you at the local supermarket." , she didn't like this. Every single bit of it was torture to her ears, it was written all other her face but I wouldn't risk it again. Ever again.

We will take care of her this time. Like she did for so many years.
