The Daughter Of Hades

Chapter 6

"Can you please stop looking at me like that?" She spoke, her eyes trained on the menu, she had in front of her eyes.

"Oh no. I have questions and nothing but questions about all of that back there" She told her with a whisper, a wide smile never leaving her lips. "Ok, first and foremost, what exactly are they?" She interrogated the other girl, eyes looking to the two dogs outside the diner, who were eating.

"Ok" Sighing, Melaina closed the menu, placing it to the side of them. " Look, everything that I'm about to tell you, you can't repeat any of it to a single person or soul"

"Girl scouts honour" Thalia agreed.

"My name is Melinoë but I go by Melaina and I'm the Goddess of Ghosts. I assume you saw my face back there, correct?" she only nodded her head. "That's truly how I look but I again of course changed myself to not scare anyone and to fit in as best as I can"

"Damn girl. Ok so just to confirm this for me. You're not from here then I take it"

"No, I am not from this world, just like my two dogs out there, who are by the way both Cerberus. They guard the underworld preventing souls from escaping. I have two older siblings. A brother named Zagreus, who is the God of Rebirth and a sister named Macaria, who is the Goddess of blessed death"

"This is a lot to take in"

"Well, keep tracking with me. My father is um well Hades"

"SHUT UP!!" Thalia shouted out, causing the people in the diner, including the workers to look at them.

"Sorry she just really loves the soup special today" kicking her under the table, Thalia gave a sheepish smile. "Go back to eating and doing whatever now" they rolled their eyes at them, before going back to what they were doing. "Seriously?"

"Sorry, but that's huge. Ok, wait so you mean to tell me, I agreed to help the daughter of Hades find not just a God but her father as well?"

"Told you, it didn't concern you back at the hut," She told her, picking the menu back up.

"Well, it's not like you were leading with the whole I'm a Goddess and my father is the God of the underworld and my family is immortal"

"You still joined me. A stranger if I might add" She tells with a shrug of her shoulders.

"Got me there. Ok, how come you're here on earth? Where are your siblings now? And why is Hades missing?"

"Can I get you two anything?"

"Yes, I'll take the pancakes with extra butter and three things of sausages with toast on the side. Oh, and a side order of sardines but can you place them in a jar for me" Melaina told her handing the woman her menu.

Both Thalia and the waitress gave the younger woman a weird look at her order. Not because it was a weird one but just the added sardines.

"And for you miss?"

"I'll have the same. Minus the sardines" She joked.

As the waitress grabbed her menu, with a fake smile on her face, she left.

"Sardines?"

"What? No, those are not for me. It's for Achlys and Desdemona"

"Right! Ok so answer my questions" She said getting back on task.

"I'm here on earth because when I was an infant, my siblings bought me here to keep us safe. My siblings are now back in the underworld as the new rulers of the underworld. And I don't know why Hades is missing but because he is, Zagreus and Macaria are stuck on the throne in that awful place"
